Bab 88: Insurmountable Gap

Laemno raced up River Tefras, crossing the path he had carved through the black, oily wall bordering this side of the valley.

A crippling sense of emptiness filled his body as he struggled atop the debris. The battle was over, and the pleasurable impulses it had sparked in him had all but faded, leaving him with only fatigue and aches. 

This was a tricky development.

Laemno didn't know the source of these violent urges, but he suspected his Insight Ritual had caused them somehow. The corruption of Mana came in many forms, and as Nysa had implied, it could be hidden beneath the veil of new emotions, tendencies, or even trains of thought. 

Moreover, if these changes led him to become unhinged in precarious situations, his chances of survival would drop significantly. It was clear that something needed to be done about it, though it would have to wait until he reached the Sethian Empire.
