Bab 199: Been Before

The way the silver clouds glowed in the night sky was mesmerizing, like a miniature aroura borealis. Only these clouds were far from just a pretty sight.

The glowing, pure silver brightened as time went on, becoming a stark, blazing gold that lit up the night sky to the point shadows were cast on the ground below. This time, the soldiers below didn't stop to admire the view, putting their all into cutting down the other side.

So while the sight was immensely beautiful, only the archers, the Dryad, and the humans saw it. And since only they saw it, only they were able to notice the problem.

"Are they… falling?" Essenla asked.

Morne squinted. "They are."

It was hard to notice with the way the smokescreens flowed around the mutants' forms, but the mutants were losing altitude at around a few feet a minute.
