Tristan cocked his head and frowned. "How did I know? Because I can see the power in your eyes. If you could become independent of my control, then we would have had no choice but to fight. But now we can use it for something else."

Lena grew silent, unable to process what he was saying.

"What are you going to do?" she asked.

Tristan turned away, rubbing his chin. He let out a sigh when he remembered the answer to that question.

He needed more cannon fodder around him if he wanted any damage control.

'Lena is just the right person for the job and a way to test out the tame link.'

"I'm going to make you my slave," he said.

Lena's eyes widened.

"Don't worry. It's just temporary. A few days or weeks, maybe even months. Then you will be free, Lena. So long as you continue to serve me, of course."

"No! I won't!"
