Bab 100: Chapter 100: The Void
When Jack found out that Bucky was still alive, he was relieved.
If Bucky was gone, he couldn't face Steve.
'But how could they rescue him from the Void?'
'That was a new problem.'
"Wait! The Void?" Suddenly, Jack had an idea and looked at the short stick in his hand. If people were erased, they would go to the Void. So, all they had to do was prune themselves.
Obviously, Sylvie also thought of this, and her eyes lit up, but then she remembered something else.
"But you can't be erased. What can we do?"
Jack snapped back to reality and looked at her. Yes, he couldn't be pruned. Even the laws of the Time Variance Authority didn't apply to him.
This meant that he couldn't prune himself and enter the Void.
It was another dead end.
"Ding!"
The sound of the elevator opening interrupted his thoughts. He picked up the stick and rushed over without saying a word.
Soon, the Minutemen who came to support either got stabbed or erased.
Ravonna was numb. She had never seen anything like this before. The sight of corpses on the ground and the smell of blood in the air tortured her, and finally, she couldn't hold on any longer and passed out.
Sylvie looked at the unconscious Ravonna, raised the stick in her hand, struggled for a moment, and finally did not strike. At this moment, Jack stared blankly at the Minutemen on the ground. Suddenly, he had an idea and turned around to ask Sylvie.
"Is the Tempad with you?"
"Yes!"
Sylvie answered and took out the Tempad from her back waist and handed it to him. She had taken it from Jack before but hadn't had a chance to return it to him yet.
Taking the Tempad, Jack quickly controlled it with both hands and sighed in relief.
"What's going on?" Sylvie looked at him with some confusion, not understanding what he was thinking.
"The Tempad can open a portal to any timeline, but it can't work alone outside of the sacred timeline because it can't locate it."
Jack returned the Tempad to Sylvie and continued, "But it can locate the sacred timeline. So, theoretically, if you take the Tempad to the void, you should be able to open a portal there to bring me over."
"Hmm... that's a plan," Sylvie furrowed her brows and thought for a moment before saying, "But what if it doesn't work?"
"..."
"Then there's nothing we can do. If it doesn't work, you'll have to go find the Time Keepers and sort it out with them yourself." Jack shrugged helplessly. It was the only way, and if it didn't work, there was nothing he could do.
"Alright, I'll try it now."
Sylvie strapped the monitoring device to her waist and took Jack's short stick, ready to erase herself when suddenly...
"Wait!"
A loud shout stopped Sylvie's movement. They both turned around to see Loki, who had appeared out of nowhere, looking at them nervously with his hands raised.
"Loki? How come you're here again?"
Jack looked at him with a headache and a helpless expression. To be honest, although he liked this guy when he watched the movie, and even though he was brave enough to give Thor a chance to live by sacrificing himself, he was not a good person.
"I...I can help you! We can work together!" Loki glanced at the corpse on the ground and looked at Jack nervously. "I'm also looking for the Time Keepers. I can help you!"
"..."
Jack and Sylvie exchanged a glance, and they both saw the same three words in each other's eyes.
'He's lying!'
"Look, I'm telling the truth." Loki quickly defended himself because he knew what they were thinking "I've changed, even though I've done wrong things in the past, You can trust me!"
"That may be something Thor would believe," Jack sneered, looking at Loki with an expression that said, "Are you kidding me?"
"What about you? Do you believe me?" Seeing that Jack didn't believe him, Loki turned to Sylvie, "After all, we are the same person. I won't lie to you."
"Wait a minute! Did I hear that correctly?" Before Sylvie could answer, Jack was surprised, looking at Loki and then at Sylvie with an unbelieving expression, "Don't tell me you're another version of Female Loki!"
"I don't go by that name!" it made sense why Sylvie's abilities looked familiar.
Sylvie looked helplessly and then turned to Loki, "However, I still won't believe you!"
"But you can come with us!"
Sylvie's last sentence made Loki's eyes light up. Before he could react, he felt a sudden blur and a collar around his neck.
"Put this on, and you can move freely," Sylvie said with a smirk.
Loki's expression turned sour. He had only recently gotten rid of this collar, and now he had to wear it again. But that was okay, as long as he could see the Time Keepers.
"You two go ahead and try to open the time portal, see if it can connect to here," Jack said.
"No problem!" Sylvie nodded, then pulled Loki along. "You go first, search the way!"
"What? No way!" Loki's face changed, and his head shook like a drum.
"Sorry, objections are invalid," Sylvie said, ignoring Loki's objections and pointing her short stick at him.
In an instant, Loki was quickly pruned and disappeared.
"Okay, it's my turn," said Sylvie. She took a deep breath and also erased herself.
"I hope it works," said Jack, his face serious, uncertain if it would be successful. Just then, a time portal suddenly appeared. Seeing this, Jack immediately relaxed.
Sure enough, the next moment, Sylvie poked her head out and said, "Come over here quickly, the portal won't last long."
Jack didn't say a word and walked into the portal. Immediately he found himself in a land full of grass and waste.
"Is this the Void?" Jack looked around and felt like he had fallen into a junkyard.
There was everything in this wasteland - cars, planes, ships, giant statues, spaceships with science fiction designs, and more. It was like a real junkyard.
But that wasn't the point. The real problem was the dark cloud in the distance, which gave Jack the chills.
"Why didn't you find the Timekeeper before telling me to come here?"
