"Liara!" I screamed.
I ran deeper into the mist, my head turning left and then right. Nothing.
"Liara!"
I kept running, my mind calculating the distance between me and the end of this godsdamned mist, but no matter where I turned or how fast I ran, the supernatural mist stayed at my side, refusing to let me go.
"Liara!"
Still nothing.
I could see nothing beyond my arm's reach, hear nothing within the thick mist's folds, or smell the scent of undead stench that had been so noxious back at the Borgo Way's front yard.
"Liara…"
I called myself the 'Boy Without Fear of Death' but I had admittedly felt fear more than once since I arrived at the Academy. Tonight, fear, the kind one felt when someone they cared about was in danger, filled my mind, instilling me with anxiety which stoked the beast that Liara's presence had diminished.
"Haʊl~~l!"
