Bab 163: A Necromancer with a Heart, Part 1

I cast a suspicious glance to my left.

"Um…" 

Walking alongside me was the mist troll I'd been fighting with earlier. We'd agreed on a truce though for the sake of Liara. 

"Is this guy okay?" 

No, I wasn't feeling pity for my enemy, but even a greater demon might feel awkward while following a beast who looked half-dead as it guided me across a vast emerald plain without rest. 

"I-it is fine~~e," replied the ghostly voice spilling from the mist troll's lips. "The troll w-will heal~~l." 

Dark ichor dripped out of the spiral wounds I'd cut into both its arms, with bone and sinew visible underneath the deepest cuts. The beast was breathing heavily too. Almost as if it were lumbering on its last legs. 

"Yeah." I scratched my head. "It's not healing fast enough though."
