Bab 132: Cloak of Shadows, Part 1

'Do you want strength…?'

I heard a voice inside my head. Low and menacing like a growl but more nuanced somehow. 

'Do you seek power…?'

Before me was a vast darkness like a pitch-black land stretching out from one end of the horizon to the other. However, it was unlike the inky void I experienced with each death because no stars were wheeling overhead in this space. In death, time seemed both to exist all at once and not at all. In this darkness though, I could tell that I was still tethered to the present, and that meant I was still alive. 

'Do you desire the world…?'
