Bab 9: Gains

"Yeah, we were. I was kicked out", her tone was so nonchalant-as if she was making a passing comment

He cocked a brow and turned his gaze to the ceiling,

"How do you get kicked out of an orphanage?"

"Apparently, I was stealing from the other children"

He chuckled in response,

"Did you though?" He asked, almost like he couldn't fathom it. Considering the fact she'd committed crimes worse than theft, it was pretty ironic

She didn't give him a clear response only murmuring "Does it really matter now?"

He didn't relapse on the questions though, and carried on asking more, they were a bit personal but he tried making sure not to cross the line with them,

"Then how did you end up meeting Zhang Wei?",

He knew Zhang Wei only by name, they had met once before but had only ever shared a few pleasantries, however, after learning just a day ago that he was the head of The Organization, he had to satiate his curiosity,

She contemplated not telling him but decided to give in

"It was twelve years ago...."

Li Hao sat typing away at his laptop, he had just received it from his assistant a few hours ago. Liling had fallen asleep the weight of everything had finally worn her down, even though she didn't realize she was tired.

He took a little glance at her sleeping face, she was sitting with her head on her knees, so he took the liberty of adjusting her, bringing her head to his shoulder, she seemed to visibly relax and didn't wake up, so he took it as a win

He would occasionally take little glances at her, telling himself that he was just checking up on her, but he knew the actual reason; she was nice to look at

'She looks cute when she not trying to murder me'

He chuckled as he thought back to their first meeting a few days ago, well not first meeting, first meeting, he had always known she existed in the company but other than that he drew a blank.

Now thinking about the things she had told him in the last three hours, how she had made the deal that changed her life in the very hospital she was currently in, he almost couldn't believe how surreal it sounded.

He smirked a bit to himself as he remembered her reaction when he had proposed three days ago, he wondered how much of a weirdo she saw him as

But he wouldn't say he was a saint who was trying to help her only from the goodness of his heart, he had his reasons, he was gonna use her, and she would use him.

All in all, it was just about gains.
