If they raised their prices, the remaining competitors would also raise their prices. Some may keep the lowered prices to gain more share, but given how overwhelmingly popular Damsel products were, and the fact that the price increase wasn't necessarily going to be small, perhaps the most optimum decisions would be just to go along with the price increase but keep the actual price just slightly less than Damsel.

But of course, those were only speculations.

And before really raising the price and seeing the actual market trend, making predictions wasn't really all that useful.

For the vast majority of people that was true.
