Wolfe opened his eyes when he was finished, and found himself staring deeply into the eyes of Vladimir, who had an array of spells active to examine the changes in Wolfe's body.

"What did you do to yourself?" The vampire asked the moment Wolfe's eyes opened. 

"It is a technique practised by the denizens of the Lowest Planes, and it seemed effective for my current state, so I integrated their secondary mana focuses and pathways along with my mana cores. 

I have my power restrained at the moment, but I can feel already that the change is going to make future advancements almost painless." Wolfe explained.

"Well, at least your time was well spent." The vampire replied with satisfaction.

"What do you mean?" 

Vladimir gave him an amused look. "That happens to higher ranking Magi all the time. They lose track of time while studying. You've been in that chair for almost a month."
