Bab 373: Feeling Cheated.

Arissa rolled over on the bed and faced Nicklaus. When she turned to him, she was staring at his back as he was already prepared to leave the bed. 

"Nick," she called him softly, like a whisper, "Thank you," she told him and placed her palm flat on his back. 

Nicklaus tilted his head and looked at her. He waited for seconds before asking, "What for?" he made his voice firm on purpose. He wanted her to know that she had hurt him deeply by being snobbish to him, only to speak to him of her own will. 

Arissa's lips twisted at his tune. "Thank you for being there in time before I would reach the floor," she replied and looked away from his gaze. Done with her appreciation, she took her hand off his back and turned away from him once more. 

Nicklaus who was once elated when she spoke to him felt his heart shedding into a million pieces when she broke his hopes of reconciling with her by turning away from him again.
