On the thirtieth floor of the world's most renowned enterprise - Wyatt Enterprises Holdings Inc., was seated an expressionless face typing fastly on his keyboard with some review needed files waiting.
In front of his brown shining office wooden desk are two executive black leather chairs. At one end of the big wide office was a luxurious ash sofa with a small well manly but stylish glass table in front of it.
And looking at the left side of the all-glass office, was a closed door that had his room behind it - just in case he stays overnight just like he has done in the past few days.
A few centimeters away from his seat was an all-glass closure that showed the stunning city view below the company.
Nicklaus tapped on his laptop staring into it intensely. His tie and suit jacket was long gone and he was left with the inner suit and his white shirt.
Two buttons were undone from his shirt a few strands of his hair fell over his forehead adding a more breathtaking view to his look.
The sound of his keyboard keys rang throughout the office room before he stretched his hand to the mug of coffee that sat on the table, a file away. He paused for a while on his keyboard before taking a sip of his coffee.
He positioned the coffee back on the spot on the desk before leaning his back on his seat. He exhaled deeply before slipping his hand through his hair.
He leaned forward and looked into his laptop again and after a short examination, he straightened up on his seat and typed his thoughts down, and just at that moment, his office's white door was pulled open.
And his middle-aged PA walked in, "It's a call from your mother," he announced his reason for walking into the office because, after just a slight glance, his boss's eyes went back to his laptop.
He walked over to the table with impossibly soundless steps because right now, his boss is extremely busy and a little noise would flip him to his heartless self, and with that, things would get hard for him to report.
"She said it's important,"
And with that, Nicklaus took his eyes off his laptop and that was a go-ahead for his PA because he increased his steps with little care for the noise now.
Nicklaus took the phone from his PA and with a nod, he dismissed him only when his PA was out, he called his mother's phone again because it disconnected earlier.
"Nicklaus!" she called his name out the moment she answered after a ring and Nicklaus can only raise his left brow with a small frown.
This tune from his mother meant only one thing - and that is her displeasure concerning him.
"Mother," he acknowledged with a low voice as he stood up from his seat and to the glass window view behind him.
"Did you misplace your phone or you muted my calls?" she asked him Nicklaus can already imagine her fuming expression right now so he just kept shut.
And with his silence, he already answered his mother, "Why did you mute my calls?"
"I was busy," he answered looking down from the glass. It's night already and to him, night views are always the best. So to be able to absorb his mother's lash-out, he would need this spot.
"Okay," his mother said lowly with humor in her voice, "You skipped your wedding," she dropped the reason for her so many previous calls. She had initially said he went on a business trip to save her son's reputation from his new charming bride but now, he is taking forever to come back home, and answering her calls is now a problem.
"Hm," he hummed in response as his left hand disappeared into his pant pocket.
"It been three days now." his mother said reminding him as she ignored his uninterested reply, "So when do you plan to come back to see your wife,"
Nicklaus's frown increased at her question, "Mother we already agreed on the fact that I can stay away from her so why the summoning now?" he asked her tapping his left foot on the floor in a rhythm with his pitch-black eyes sweeping across the city like an aggressor.
He heard his mother draw in a breath from his reminder, "Nicklaus, you can stay away from her, yes. But don't you think you should at least stay in the same space as hers for a day at least?"
His jawline tightened as he listened to his mother's words. Whereas, staying with her for a day can't be so bad because if she meets his fantasy, he might have a night with her.
He rubbed his face with his palm as he listened to his mother breathe as she waited for his reply, "I will Mother. I will be home by dawn," he assured, and with the breath his mother released, he can tell that she just smiled with his response and immediately, a thin smile crept into his thin lips.
"That's good. She would also arrive at your penthouse tomorrow but I did not give her a time range to arrive," she informed him with a happy voice.
"That's okay Mother," Nicklaus said with a low chuckle hearing the change in his mother's tune. She is always this way.
Easily pleased and the same goes for her wrath.
