Bab 144: Meeting Joff

The group was already close to where Joff was having his meeting, so they didn't need to walk for long. The chosen meeting place was an older wooden house, similar to the one their squad originally had on the northern edges of the city. 

Glancing over at Ghost, who was seated on his shoulder, Edol spoke into the bird's mind.

"Ghost, keep an eye out for anything suspicious."

Before the bird could respond, another voice broke into Edol's mind.

"Huh? Did I just hear a voice?"

Edol froze mid-step. 

'Waitwait, what was that?! It definitely wasn't Ghost's voice!'

"Umm… Hello?"

Edol tried mind speaking again, and once again, he heard a voice other than Ghost's responding.

"There is! Who are you, and how are you doing this? Where are you?!"

'Shit, someone in there really can hear me! But how…'

Edol trailed off into thought, then looked back at Ghost.
