Bab 149: Her Dignity Was On The Line

The air inside the ballroom turned stagnant. Everyone was looking at the flustered Liliana and the angry Thomas. Katherine was also displeased. She was still holding the empty gift box.

"Did she seriously play a prank?"

"Isn't that too much?"

"I wonder what happened. I recognize that purple box."

"Isn't that from the new jewelry store?"

The audible whispers transmitted to Liliana's ears. Chills ghosted down her spine. Her head was suddenly blank by the unforeseen incident.

'Calm down, Lili.'

'Think. Don't be too agitated.'

Liliana repeated the same words in her mind. She didn't want to make a fool of herself in this questionable situation. She was already at a disadvantage.

Right now, everyone's attention was heavily focused on Liliana. It was different than the one she received when dancing with Asher earlier. Their previous awe and jealousy were replaced with mockery.
