The perfect chance to be the Grand duchess had arrived, and she was not going to waste this opportunity that had landed on her doorstep. Of course, she had that woman's child to thank, but she was not going to admit it. 

That woman's child had paved a direct way for her to the Grand duke's heart. Her actions of running away from the hayes duchy was indirectly insulting the prestige of the South, the Elrod family and the Grand duke's name.

A mere mistress who was more favored than that child. Even if duke hayes was at fault, the child was also at fault for not keeping the duke on a leash. 

Couldn't she scheme to get the duke's heart? Countess Olivier thought, as running away from the hayes duchy was very humiliating to her status. It was like announcing that she, a grand duke's daughter and duchess hayes, could not beat a lowly mistress in getting her husband's heart.
