" That's one of the reasons why we're here today.... I want to open a martial arts school here so I need to buy some lands to build the school and to thank uncle Lu for his help the other day " Yue passed the things the brought politely to the village head making all family members eyed them especially his granddaughter who saw the snacks, being able to eat snacks was a blessing for the peasant families since they couldn't afford candies let alone such snacks..... which made them all started salivating and swallowing hard
" you want to open a martial arts school in big stone village? " the village chief was shocked so he couldn't help but ask making sure he heard right
" yes uncle Lu " YanZhi assured him
" wouldn't it be better to open it in town? ... how will people know when it's in this small village, this village is not well known so it'll drag your school down " the village head informed worriedly
" no, I like it here.... I plan to buy the mountain and that's where the school will be built. And as for my school being well known..... I have my own ways. We came here today to talk about buying the whole mountain " the village head coughed and choked from YanZhi's words staring with wide eyes
" you want to buy the whole mountain? it'll cost a fortune, the mountain has over hundred acres of land and you can't even farm on it! " the village chief advised
" village head we don't plan on farming on the mountain... we'll buy a few acres of farmland along with the mountain. The mountain is for the purpose of the school and where we plan to build our house there " Xiao Ling said politely
" since you say that then okay... but we have to go to the county to buy the mountain directly from the yamen. " the village head reluctantly said, tho building a martial arts school was a good thing for the village but he thought it was a waste of money to buy the whole mountain for that... that was a lot of silvers they were talking about.
" Uncle Lu we will be really grateful if we can go to the yamen today to buy the mountain " YanZhi said.... the village head was about to reply when a knock sounded from the front yard. Lu Shuchang reluctantly stood up and walked to to answer the door....
" brother Yan someone from Huichun shop is here for you " Lu Shuchang hurriedly walked back in and said to YanZhi earning just a nod from YanZhi.... that was yet another shocking news for the family as they were curious about YanZhi's relationship with Huichun, but YanZhi made no intention to satisfy their curiosity. He walked out along with the village head, Xiao Ling and Yue as they walked out of the house to meet the servant from Huichun leaving the village head's family discussing about all the shocking news.
" Master Jun, doctor Shi sent a carriage for you. He said to tell you that he's gotten a shop so you should come see for yourself... I went to your house to look for you but I was informed that you were here " YanZhi nodded as the servant informed and opened the carriage door for them.
YanZhi, Xiao Ling, village head and Yue got into the carriage before the servant closed the door... the servant took the coach seat and drove them out of the village. The villagers yet got another news to gossip about us their envy started to grow more..... when they got to the county YanZhi and the village head got down from the carriage leaving Xiao Ling to head to Huichun first as he also deals with the purchase of the mountain. The village head took YanZhi to a yamen he knew and greeted with their hands cupped
" big stone village head to what do I owe this visit? " the yamen asked
" it is this way brother Jiang.... my nephew here wanted to buy the mountain in the village..... that's what brought us here today " the yamen whom the village head called Jiang's ears perked up when he head the village head say he brought him silvers..... brother Jiang knew that after every purchase made directly in the yamen there's always a bribe and the mountain which YanZhi intended to buy wasn't a small amount of silvers.... so surely he want bound to make a lot of fortune since YanZhi was even wearing expensive silk clothes. Brother Jiang mustered up the biggest smile ever in high spirits.
" ah that mountain.... this brother should leave this matter to me, let me check on the cost of the mountain " he started referring to YanZhi as brother making the village head stunned and YanZhi chuckled inwardly. Brother Jiang left and came back with a book, he flipped through focused before turning his attention back to them
" it says here that the mountain is about a hundred and fifty acres of lands and some acres of farm land and dry lands at the foot of the mountain.... you get those lands included when you buy the mountain " brother Jiang said cheerfully " it costs a thousand taels for everything including the deeds... you get a separate deed for both mountain and the lands at the foot " the village head's eyes widened when he head of the amount of the silvers it costs... he had never seen a hundred taels of silvers before let alone a thousand taels, he started to panic thinking YanZhi didn't have that much much.
" then I'll have to bother brother Jiang with the procedure " YanZhi took out a very huge money pouch full to the brim with broken silvers and bank notes from his sleeve as the village head's heart almost failed him... brother Jiang took the silvers and weighed them before proceeding with the deeds of the land. It took them about an hour to finalize everything and get he magistrate's stamp on it and YanZhi's thumb print.... YanZhi passed a silver ingot of ten taels to brother Jiang when he got his hands on the deeds making brother Jiang more enthusiastic about YanZhi... he walked them out and they thanked him before leaving the yamen with sweating the village head. YanZhi took out another ten taels silver ingot and forcefully placed it in the hands of the village head
" Uncle Lu please use this to take a bull cart back home, Xiao Ling and I still have things to do in the county so we won't be able to escort you back.... and please keep this between us for now. " YanZhi said apologetically
" YanZhi this is too... " YanZhi left in a hurry before the village head could decline the silver ingot which he gave him... the village head sighed and shook his head helplessly thinking that they had a living Buddha in big stone village, but they were far too short sighted to see. ' taking out a thousand taels of silvers as if it was nothing.... ah the Jun family has really lost a good thing, they chased the living Buddha out of their family with their very own hands! ' he scolded in heart. " I have to warn that wife of mine not to go run her mouth out to the villagers! " village head quickly left for big stone village in hurry.
YanZhi walked straight to doctor Shi's rest room when he arrived at Huichun, when he walked into the rest room Xiao Ling was seating facing doctor Shi and a ger with Yue by his side
" doctor Shi sorry to keep you waiting " he cupped his hands and apologized
" ah no need, no need... brother Yan had something to do " doctor Shi shook his hands in a way of telling YanZhi he shouldn't bother about his delay " since you're here let me introduce you to my fiance.... this is Qing Jinhua, he just arrived from the capital last night " doctor Shi said with joy making YanZhi arched his brows
" brother Yan, I've heard a lot about you from Dafu... all good stuffs tho " Jinhua joke making doctor Shi laughed embarrassedly and YanZhi smiled, YanZhi walked over to Xiao Ling and stretched his hand to help Xiao Ling up
" are you done? " Xiao Ling asked wanting to hear the results
" all good.... I'll show you the deeds when we get home " said YanZhi smiling as he stroked Xiao Ling's cheek
" brother Yan and brother Lin are feeding us dog food " Jinhua commented in mocking tone making Xiao Ling turned bright red and stepped away from YanZhi's hold embarrassedly.
" doctor Shi take us to see the shop, we want to get our hands on the deed today itself if the shop suits our liking " YanZhi requested.... they left Huichun as they headed for the shop happily conversing. They were given strange looks by people as their group was an odd group.
