“You told me, Mother, it would only make her sick, that it wouldn’t kill her…”

Freddy spoke to his mother in a hushed whisper. Fleur Toussaint rolled her eyes at her son's dramatics. The news although fake seemed to not have made any impact on her.

“Then we did ourselves a favor in the long run, Fredrick. Alpha Theo didn’t agree to some weak b*tch…”

I felt the color drain from my face as it heated with the implication of Fleur’s words, sinking deep in my bones. I clenched my fist to tamper down the rage building inside of me.

“They are expecting us to deliver them a bride, Mother, it was supposed to be Adel!” They had long since forgotten I was in the room. That or they were bating me into reacting, into launching myself from this chair, my life be d*mned.

“Kitty will have to do Fredrick—”
