Bab 13: Chapter 13: Fate’s Spare.

Adel’s POV.

“This is outrageous,” Jen whined, curling her lip at the corner.

“I can’t believe this is their best option for us,” Kitty, Freddy’s stepmother, my uncle's newest wife, pipped up from the small chase lounge in the corner of the small bridal store.

My stepmother and step-aunt were so self-absorbed by the lack of options in the small wedding shop they had no awareness that they were simultaneously ignoring the woman standing in front of them whose emotions were so radically torn to shreds by the whirlwind of the last twenty-four hours she might as well be flipped inside out standing in front of them in a white frock two sizes too small.

“I think it’s rather pretty,” Calista whispered for my ears only, as she adjusted the waist of the dress, pulling it down again in an attempt to give my ribs some much-needed room to breathe.

“I think she looks like a muffin,” Freddy whispered in her ear, startling the poor maid.
