Rilian didn't leave that day, and he stayed with me in my apartment even through the next night. He turned off his phone, and no one came. The only one who would have thought to was Justinian, but even he did not come to look for him.
I rested on the couch in Rilian's arms while he read a comic book over my shoulders. Finally stirring after a night and a half's worth of sleep.
"Isn't it hard for you to read?" I asked sleepily. "It's so dark in here."
"I'm a vampire," mumbled Rilian as he turned another page. I felt him kiss my forehead, and I settled back against him. "I see just fine in the dark. I'm surprised you can't, though."
I shrugged. "Not all wolves are the same," I sighed, "this shape is pretty much human. I probably could if I had better control over my shifting, but I wasn't allowed to use it."
"At all?" asked Rilian.
