Bab 24: Chapter 24: A Job

I spent half the day with Justinian. He took the time to give me books on how to read the vampiric language and teach me the history of how vampires came to be.

Learning how Rilian's family came to power was fascinating, but the entire time I was distracted by the prospect of earning a title. And I had to get a job.

I had no idea what I could do for the Avaris. I wasn't strong enough to do security and had already failed a trial to become a guard. So I had to find some way to be beneficial, just like Justinian and Sean had before their trials.

I was still brooding over it as I drifted back into Rilian's office to find him at his computer, with his chin resting against his hand, sluggishly typing away with one finger. His eyes slowly scanned the room until they met mine, and his whole face lit up.

"Hey, there's my wolf!" exclaimed Rilian, holding his arms out for me.
