Her eyelids move and it slowly opened, revealing her caramel eyes, she sigh, moving her eyes to look at the room she was in. It was different from the one she woke up in before and now her soul was back from the Garden of Peace.
The room look fancy, and the bed she was laid on was quite large, she pushed herself up sitting down. The room was dark and only the light from candles lit up the room, removing the blanket that covers her,she bring down her legs to slid inside the slippers in front of her bed.
Her feet padded in the room touching the furnitures in the room with her bare hand, feeling them. Before walking towards the window, her hands went to pushed the window opened and the fresh air outside hit her face causing her to close her eyes, inhaling the air.
Her hair flew back, while her night dress stuck to her body like a second skin, she's loving the air here,
"You're awake," a whisper emitted behind her, causing Jessie to jump in surprised, she turned and saw the mother of the body she possessed walk in the bedroom,in her nightdress with a shawl wrapped her body, while her hands were carrying a tray with bowl, jug and small cup besides it.
"Erm,yes,I just woke," she responded, almost stuttering, her dear heart start thundering in her chest, because she could see her (vampiress)mother's red eyes has gotten brighter by the lit candles in the room.
Being an actress so, thought she could do this,by pretending like she wasn't scared.
Lady Edwina nod,and placed the tray on the bedside drawer, she look up at her daughter, her eyes darted to her chest, she stated,"I could hear your heart beating faster, I must have scared you,"
Jessie eyes widened, fuck! She forgot vampires can detect humans fear, God,she had to trained her heart if she's going to live as someone else's,
Jessie composed herself and nervously laughed,"yes you do, I'm sorry I got scared easily,"
"No don't be, you're now human instead of a vampire, Don't blame yourself," Lady Edwina told her daughter, Dana.
Before walking over to her, when she came standing in front of her daughter, her hand slowly went to grab her daughter's hand and clasp it into her own,she look down at their hands her eyes carrying the longing and relief of her daughter woking up again,
"Your hands are warmer now, I missed holding them," she whispered, squeezing the small hand of Dana, she look up at 'Jessie' as in Dana whose caramel eyes were looking at her,
"I missed you my little baby,I missed you...," Lady Edwina chanted her hand going to stroke the brown hair of Dana, her eyes glistened with tears but didn't let them fall, because vampires were known to hide their emotions by concealing them, as it was an act of weakness, but when it comes to the marchioness she wanted to cry and rejoices.
When Dana became unconscious, she thought she would never get the chance to feel the warmth of her daughter, but somehow God showered his mercy on her by waking her up.
On the other hand, Jessie was taken aback when she heard what the Marchioness said, she was sure she saw the Marchioness tearing up, she's unaware of how it felt to be loved by a mother, and has no idea how it feels,as the only feeling she was mindful of was a father's love,
It was the director who became a father to her at the age of fifteen, he loved and cared for her more than the other two girls he took in, the director always act partial when it comes to her.
Morever, now that she was experiencing the motherly love she feel her heart filled with warm and anxiety,it was a new found feelings,
Even though the Marchioness wasn't her real mother if not of the body she possess,
However, hearing her uttering the word missed ,the woman must have love her daughter so much, Jessie felt a wave of happiness washing over her,
The Marchioness however requested,"right now I wanted to hug you,may I?,"
Jessie eyes widened, she hadn't expected that, but who was she to rejected such a request that she too dreamed of in her past life, the feeling that comes when you hugged your mother, she wanted to experienced that too, her lips moved on their own,
"Yes, you may," this was enough for Lady Edwina to move closer to her daughter and have her hands wrapped her arms around Jessie, in each other's embrace.
In contact with each other's body both women sigh in relief and closed their eyes, one who wanted to experience it and the latter who wanted to feel her daughter's body that wasn't any warmer few days ago,
"Thank you, thank you for waking up," Lady Edwina tight her hug on Dana muttering these words,
Jessie inhaled the woman scents,it was pleasant and welcoming, right now,she feel like God really favoured her,for giving her a new life to experience the parents love she had missed in her former life,
If this was what it feel to have a mother, then she's willing to stay here with them forever without caring if they're vampires, she needs them more than they do and a tears slip from Jessie eyes that soak on Lady Edwina shawl,
Lady Edwina slowly open her eyes and stare outside of the window, that was darker because of the trees that surrounded the manor, and the sounds of crickets could be heard,
After a moment of silence between the mother and the daughter, each clouded by their own thoughts but enjoying their time, break free from their embraced,
Lady Edwina smiled at her lovely daughter, she cupped her cheeks,"you're always special, I brought you food you should eat it now before it turns cold,"
Jessie nodded and followed her mother to where the food was placed,
Jessie was a little surprised on seeing the food brought for her inside the ceramic bowl,
Lady Edwina noticed how Jessie kept staring at the bowl, she smiled and explained," that's potato porridge with some dried fish, It's your favourite porridge, when you're four you always throw tantrum and often asked me to make one for you,"
Jessie who was staring at the bowl look at the woman standing beside her, the woman must have been so fond of the memories of her when she was a kid,"did I like it now?," she asked pointing her finger at the mashed potatoes that were turned into a porridge for her,
"No," Lady Edwina shakes her head, looking at her now grown daughter, she stared back and continued,"you stopped asking when you aged six, I start missing those days though, but you seemed to forgot about it while ageing, so I tried to forget too, somehow it struck me today,to made it for you,so I did anyway,"
Jessie felt guilt crawling her mind, she fucking have no idea about this and the woman besides her was a stranger to her, she pursed her lips in worries,
Lady Edwina spotting the worried expression, she placed her hand on Dana's shoulder and inquired, "is something wrong? Don't you like it?"
"I have no memories of you, my father or this place, I feel like I'm among strangers," noticing Lady Edwina eyes look disappointed, Jessie added, "I'm sorry..." she didn't mean to hurt the woman's feeling,
A light smile formed on Lady Edwina lips, "please don't be, the healer do mentioned it, selfishly I hope it wasn't true but somehow it was... The poison hadn't only turned you into human it turns out you also lost your memories, you can drink the herbs tea I brought you it will help you get some sleep and restored the lost energy, don't worry about seeing blood in them,I made them myself,I will discard the porridge," she stretched her hand to take the bowl of porridge but Jessie stopped her by saying,
"I will eat it," what else could she do now than to make up for the pains she caused the woman by reincarnating into her daughter's body, she felt guilty.
Jessie smiled at the vampiress, "even without my memories, I belong to you and father," she let her mother know by assuring her,
A happy smile welcomed Lady Edwina face she nodded and said, "perhaps I should leave you be, before your father became aware of my absence for I snuck out of bed to prepared you something, good night," she wished her daughter at the end.
Jessie watched the woman as she went out of the room closing the door behind her, she sighed and glanced at the food brought to her, Jessie doesn't know if she could possibly eat this and drink the herbs tea,but consuming them was the only way to show her gratitude, she smacked her lips sitting down on the bed edge, "I guess I had to fulfil my promise,"
Unaware of the atmosphere, Jessie failed to notice the movement of something behind her window curtains, the invisible creature came out of its hidden and leave the room silently without any sound, when it safely left the room it make itself visible by revealing a young boy with freckles on his small pale face, his legs were skinny and had a long scrawny neck. His big black eyes stared at the daughter of the Marquee window, his thin hand went behind his head and pulled the hood of the black cloak he wore, to cover his coarse dirt blonde hair,
A black fog surround him, he disappeared, and an owl appeared in the sky, with a loud raucous cry.
The owl fly into the forest going deeper and deeper until it came to its destination and landed, transforming back to the young boy, he pushed the old rusty gate which creek opened, he went in doffing his hood.
The leaves rustle in breeze, moving in different directions, the sounds of cricket and hooting of owls could be heard, it sounds eery.
He walked passed an old water fountain, that was dried and was filled with leaves and some insect forming shelter in it, as if the whole place has been long without any living person in it.
When he came to stand in front of the door leading to the house, he overheard the faint whispered of the magic incantations, and a red light reflecting on the broken window, which explained the manifesting was from a witch.
He pushed the door opened and the great scene he sighted left him rooted to one place, the room was filled with the fumes of different colours of magic potion, he couldn't see what's in front of him and decided to reveal what he had discovered, "the Marquee daughter is alive".
The chanting of the magic spell stopped, follow by the sound of shattering glass,
"And the good news willow?," the female voice erupted, which was raspy as if strangled by the neck.
"She lost her memories and the poison had her changed into human,"
This was enough for the unseen witch, who was obstructed by the fumes from the potion and only her black cloak could be seen, started cackling laughter, which was unpleasant to the ear.
Her laughter boomed through the old mansion, echoing outside the still silence night.
