Bab 3: Main Lead Enters

"But, Sophie, my mother already sent an escort for me and I think they are already in the capital city." Kathleen said, shaking her head.

According to the memories of the original owner, she had received a message about her mother sending guards to escort her back to the Duchy.

"Ah, I see. Your mother has already dispatched an escort for you. However, Miss Kathleen, it might be safer for you to travel with both groups of guards. Two batches of escorts would provide better protection." Sophie suggested calmly, showing no disappointment in her tone.

'Why is this girl so persistent? Nevertheless, what she said is true.' Kathleen thought to herself.

"I agree. Please inform your family to contact my escort guards and prepare for our departure after the Academy's final exams." Kathleen said with a sigh as she escorted Sophie out of her room.

After Sophie left, Kathleen lay down on her bed, lost in thought.

"It seems that my initial guess was correct. The novel has only just begun. The main character will join the Magus academy at the end of the first year, having failed to awaken his mana core initially."

"Due to discrimination from his half-brothers and sisters in the Alstrain duchy, he will have an auspicious encounter, awaken his mana core, and ultimately earn his father's recognition." Kathleen mused.

"Ah, the first year of the Academy is coming to an end. That means the male and female leads' first meeting is approaching. This could be the perfect opportunity to take Kathleen's story in a new direction." She mused, recalling their initial encounter.

"Hehe, things are about to get interesting." She giggled, rising from her bed. With the male lead's arrival imminent, she began to strategize their first encounter.

Night fell, and she drifted off into a peaceful slumber, untroubled by thoughts of the morning's alarm clock.

=======================

The sun slowly rose above the horizon, casting its warm glow on Kathleen's bed through the window.

As Kathleen sat up, she leaned back against the luxurious headboard of her bed, rubbing her sleepy eyes.

"I was worried that it was all just a dream, but now I know for sure that I've been transmigrated into a novel." she exclaimed with a cheerful tone.

To her right, a small table with a vase of fragrant purple flowers and a ticking clock caught her attention.

"The time is already 8:30, and classes start at 9:00! I'm going to be late!" Kathleen exclaimed, hurrying to get ready. In just twenty minutes, she had packed up and was ready to head to class.

At the Magus Academy, all students, whether noble, commoner, or even an imperial family member, were required to wear uniforms and have to follow strict rules with no exceptions.

She came out from her room and started walking towards the exit. The dorms and the academy building was located separately so it will take her some time to reach the class room.

Donning a blue coat, blue tie, and blue skirt, she marched down the hallway in black boots, scanning her surroundings. Typically, she'd grab breakfast from the canteen before class, but being late made her skip it.

After pausing outside the classroom, she took a deep breath and entered. Although the class would commence in five minutes, the instructor was nowhere to be seen.

Upon her entrance, many eyes shifted towards her but then reverted to their previous activities.

As the piercing gazes of her peers bore into her, she maintained her composure and strode confidently toward the midst of the benches. But instead of settling into her usual spot, she made her way to the back where a girl with lustrous purple hair was seated.

With a warm smile on her face, Kathleen turned to Sophie and inquired. "Might someone be occupying the space next to yours, Sophie?"

A crease formed between Sophie's elegant brows, marring her otherwise flawless visage.

'Did she want to inform me something?'she pondered inwardly before returning the smile towards Kathleen.

"Miss Kathleen, you're more than welcome to take that spot if you want." Sophie graciously offered, making her way to the edge of the bench. The benches were intended for two individuals to sit side by side.

With a nod, Kathleen settled into the spot Sophie had offered and withdrew her notes from her space ring. Space ring was a magical item created by skilled mages who specialized in space magic.

Towards the front rows, a young lady with lustrous blonde hair scowled as she observed Kathleen's movements.

"Lily, why do you think that girl just shifted her seat?" she inquired, directing her gaze towards her friend.

"Who are you talking about, Princess Rowena?" A voice came from her left.

As Rowena turned to her left, she saw a black-haired girl with black pupils sitting beside her on the bench.

"Lower your voice, Lily. I'm referring to Kathleen, the girl who usually sits behind us." Rowena whispered, leaning in closer to Lily.

Lily turned around and saw that the girl sitting behind them was just an ordinary student, and the seat next to her was vacant.

Rowena leaned in closer, and Lily looked back at her. "Oh, you're talking about that timid girl," Lily said, adjusting the books on her desk. "I'm not sure, but I noticed she usually stays in the classroom after class ends. However, yesterday she hurriedly left for the dormitories. Maybe her seat was damaged or something."

"Broken? That's impossible. The academy's workers always inspect the classrooms before the classes. How could such a prestigious institution have damaged benches?" Rowena spoke while coughing slightly.

"Your highness, forgive my curiosity but may I ask why you're interested in this Kathleen? You do know she is the heiress of the infamous Black Dragon duchy, right? Rumors say they practice Demonic magic and even have connections with a black dragon, the evil creature worshipped by the Berserk and demonic mages." Lily spoke with narrowed eyes, studying Rowena's expression.

"Why do you assume that I am interested in her? We hardly speak despite her sitting behind me for an entire year." Rowena said, playfully tapping Lily's forehead with her index finger.

"Aiyo, Your Highness, why did you do that?" Lily, the petite girl, whined while massaging her forehead.

Rowena chuckled as she remarked, "I believe there was a tiny fly resting on your forehead, Lily. Let's concentrate on tidying up our books now since the first class is about to commence." She let out a sigh as she thought about how rumors could be blown out of proportion.

Rowena couldn't help but think about the absurdity of it all. While she couldn't confirm whether the Duchy was truly associated with the mythical creature Black Dragon, she knew for certain that they couldn't possibly be using demonic magic.

If they were found to be practicing such forbidden arts, not only the Duchies, but also the entire Empire would take action to eradicate them. Shaking her head, Rowena silently pondered the baselessness of such rumors.

Demonic magic is a dangerous and mysterious form of magic, shrouded in rumors and legends. It is believed that this demonic magic has the power to corrupt the minds of mages, turning them into bloodthirsty monsters that feed on human flesh to increase their strength.

The use of demonic arts to refine human bodies only adds to the horrors associated with this dark magic.

Step~ Step~ Step~

As Rowena was lost in her thoughts, a sudden commotion of footsteps echoed through the hallway, causing the entire class to fall into an eerie silence.

All heads turned towards the entrance as a woman sauntered in with a serene smile on her face. Her hair was as white as snow and her eyes as dark as the abyss. She donned the Magus academy's teacher's uniform with an air of authority.

"May the morning be filled with blessings for all." The teacher greeted, her gaze sweeping across the room, taking in each and every student.

"Hmm, it appears that the end of the academic year has put a smile on your faces. However, I trust that I needn't remind you all of the consequences of failing the final exams, correct?" Her arched eyebrows prompted some of the more enthusiastic students to reassure her of their readiness for the impending exams.

"Well, let us not get ahead of ourselves. Today, we shall revise the fundamentals of the magical arts that were taught to you at the beginning of the academic year. Oh, it appears that we have a new addition to our class. Please, come forth." The woman spoke with a calm demeanor, gesturing towards the figure standing at the doorway.

The teacher commanded the class to focus as she announced the arrival of a new member, Maxwell Alstrain. Soon after, the door opened and a young man walked in, casting his eyes around the room with a sense of curiosity.
