He stumbled backward, his eyes resembling saucers that had been stretched to their limits. "Oh, my word! That was an unexpected twist!" he blurted out, his words tumbling out in a flustered manner.

The tables had turned on him, leaving him feeling like he had been caught in his own pun-filled trap. The realization hit him like a slapstick comedy routine gone awry.
