Madeline was prone to take a step back, including Inna and Osvaldo who wisely retreated back as well for safety reasons. The sky above made the weather appear gloomy and ominous, and that malicious smile painting Abbot's lips sent shivers after shivers down Madeline's spine. There was a gap drawn between them, and Abbot's soldiers roared fiercely in anger till he raised a finger, silencing his minions.
The silence that came afterwards was so stealth, one could hear a pin drop. Madeline could hardly believe the person standing in front of her, and she shook her head in stupefaction. Abbot's face, which looked human not too long ago, was threading with black veins, and they spread like tree branches against his skin, reaching his black eyes that sunk her in like an inescapable abyss.
"Are every Fae so foolish?" Abbot's lips twitched in slight displeasure as he directed his question at Madeline, but when she remained annoyingly quiet, he tilted his head to the side.
