Epilogue

He watched silently from the corner as his wife read their son his favorite story.

The flickering flame of the fire place illuminated their faces. He sighed in content, to him nothing had looked more beautiful. He stayed in the shadows, not wanting to spoil the moment. A small smile etched across his face as he listened to her sweet voice, making up ridiculous sounds as she read.

Finally, he made his way towards them. Her eyes brightened as soon as she saw him.

/"You're home!/" She cried as she flung her arms around him and enfolded him in her warm embrace.

His arms went around her small waist involuntarily.

/"I missed you./" He breathed.

The moment was interrupted by the sound of their little toddler squealing.

/"Daddy!/" He cried excitedly, beyond elated to see his father.

/"Well, hello there little man./" He cooed affectionately as he picked him up in his arms.
