It’s about damn time

Andrew and I came home from the apple orchard. I grabbed the bag of apples from the car as we went into the house. Dad met us at the door.

/"Why do you two look sickly happy?/" He asked.

/"No reason./" I shrugged.

He gave us a skeptical look, returned to the couch, and continued reading a booklet.

/"What are you doing?/"

/"I’m reading an X-Man comic. What does it look like?/"

/"Why?/"

/"Because I like Wolverine. I wish I had his claws in case Andy Pandy gets out of hand again and subjects me to that horrible music./" He smirked.

/"Well, put the claws away. Andrew and I are back together./"

/"Damn, that was fast. Did you ever hear of making a guy work for it?/"

/"Dad./"

/"I’m just saying, Bella. Did you ever hear the expression, why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?/"

/"No./" I crinkled my nose.
