Bab 309: Did you forget me?

Abigail stood motionless, her heart thumping like a drum in her chest. Shock and horror flooded her veins, gripping every fiber of her being. Christopher's once-familiar visage, now warped with rage, loomed before her, tormenting her thoughts and overpowering her sense of security.

It was the second time in the same evening that Christopher had lunged at her and kissed her violently. What went wrong with him? Did he lose the fear of getting caught? Did he not know that she had her father's spies all around her?

Fear gripped her, a vice-like grip tightening around her throat, constricting her breath. She was well aware of the implications that would befall Christopher if they were discovered together. Her heart wrenched at the thought of him being subjected to the wrath of her father's guards, their violence unleashed upon him.
