Bab 18: Chapter 18: Picking up the Trail

Grant’s perspective:

Standing in front of Emily’s shaking body, covering her from Austin’s view, I hurriedly try to uncover what has happened. “You were with him. What do you mean he’s gone?”

“One second he was there, the next he wasn’t.”

“Put your arm down.”

“Yes, sir.” Austin reluctantly lowers his arm, still trying to look directly at my face.

“What the f*ck? You couldn’t track him?”

“I tried. The scent went everywhere and then led to, well, it led back to where I first lost track.”

“Did you pick up the trail of another shifter?”

“I didn’t. Maybe he did. Maybe he followed it. I don’t know.”

“D*mn it, boy!”

“I came to find you as soon as I realized I couldn’t track him.”

“F*ck! Shift. Both of you, shift. We have to find the others and pick up Bram’s trail.”
