Bab 17: Chapter 17: Rendezvous in the Woods

Emily’s perspective:

Grant’s scent ends here. Where is he? A tick in the woods beside me. What’s that? I turn and see nothing. Breathing from the other side. I try to catch a scent. A shrill noise from behind me. I can’t catch a glimpse. Fast. It’s fast. I hope Grant’s close.

“What the h*ll!”

…grass…trees…sky…dirt…teeth…fur…eyes… I’m rolling end over end, under attack. Terrance? I slash and bite, trying to fight off the wolf, but they are off me and back in the woods, out of sight before I can regain my footing.

“Whoever you are, my Alpha is close. Run now and you might live.”

“Ha-ha-ha-ha…”

“You won’t think it’s funny when—”

A swipe at my hind legs sends me onto my back. The wolf is gone before I lay eyes on them. “You f*ckin’ chicken! Come out and face me. I don’t need an Alpha. I’ll end you myself.”

“Ha-ha-ha-ha…” They laugh again.

“Terrance, if that’s you—”
