It is true that Airon thinks about some actions but when he acts in critical moments his kind side can make him make irrational decisions. Right now killing the walkers would have been although more complicated would be less problematic than now.
It is also true that they saved a lot of ammunition and the safety of the team if there were no failures at the door would be a perfect decision. But hey, things wouldn't always go Airon's way.
The door to the corridor connecting the two buildings opened again, and some walkers were still standing at the door and continued forward, but even before they got out of the door a sharp dagger was inserted in their head.
Airon took the initiative again and walked towards the corridor, while the rest of the people were still looking at the corridor that still had a large amount of walkers at this moment, but they were actually not as many as the ones from a few minutes ago, so Airon eliminated them very quickly.
As soon as Airon moved forward, he discovered that something was not right with some of the people in the group. "I can understand that it's because they are inexperienced, but that won't do them any good on most occasions. Even elite soldiers die at the hands of those infected with stronger variants than a simple walker."
These actions in fact Airon did not pay much attention to, and most of the group that came with him to this part of the country knew him quite well, but some of the inexperienced women were very hesitant in what they were doing.
When Airon reached the other door to the corridor he discovered that it was locked, and Airon had no intention of wasting time, so he broke the glass with a few shots and after there was no glass he reached out his hand to open the door.
The rest of the way became much quieter, no one knew if it was because most of the walkers fell from the corridor, but not many more enemies appeared in this building as soon as they entered.
After advancing a few steps, he stopped in an open corridor, and discovered that the floor was very messy. Judging from the dust on the floor, no one had been here for a long time.
In other words, there were no walkers to worry about here either, and to verify this, Airon kept tapping his knife on a metal railing, and the hallway was immediately filled with harsh metallic impact sounds.
Two minutes passed, however, and the corridors on both sides remained the same, with no movement.
Looking at the escape route sign on the wall, the group walked towards the staircase without hesitation.
Soon after reaching the tenth floor, Airon, who led the group, looked carefully at the stairwell door. The corridor was also very quiet, and the place was very short, only a dozen meters, and the other side was sealed by a wall.
The stairwell was diagonally opposite two large doors, both double doors.
Grujir.
Because the door to the hallway had not been used for a long time, it made a crackling sound when they opened it, followed by a strong stench that was faintly perceived by the group wearing the masks.
Some people who were not wearing the mask properly held their noses, but those wearing the full suit made no move, they looked into the room in silence.
"It's the smell of old corpses..."
Daryl whispered and then walked cautiously to the door across the hall.
It turned out that the glass in the door was frosted glass, and he couldn't see what was on the other side at all. This made him hesitate a little and he turned to look at Airon, who was approaching.
Airon understood what was going on, so with a signal he slowly approached the glass and listened for any noise from inside while raising his hand so that no one would make a move. Is it possible for a walker to give off such a terrible smell?
Having doubts and knowing that they had to investigate this place thoroughly, Airon opened the door, but it was dark inside. However, this did not hinder Airon's vision as his mask provided him to see in the dark without making use of flashlights, that is also why most carry lasers on their weapons.
Looking across, they all discovered that it was a corridor. And that smell, which was barely perceptible, became very strong, having to breathe from time to time through their mouths.
The rest of the people also came over and looked through the crack in the door, and saw the Airon gesturing to them, motioning them to come in and take a look around as a group.
Daryl followed behind him, that strong smell let everyone know that somewhere in the hallway that strong smell was coming from.
Airon dared not waste time, so he entered and walked slowly down the corridor that was no more than ten meters long.
Under the sharp eyes of Daryl and Airon, the two discovered that there was a door ajar, a door that had a sign not too big
Canteen!
It seemed that everyone arrived at the place they were looking for, but the strangest thing they all discovered without being pointed out was that there were apparently no survivors, but that suffocating smell lingered in the air.
The cafeteria was as unusually quiet as they had all thought, and it was obvious that the strong smell was coming from inside, and although Airon no longer had hope of finding survivors, he walked slowly without generating any sound and leaned a little to look inside.
The cafeteria area is very large, it seems to occupy the entire floor, and the situation inside the place can be clearly seen through the sunlight coming through the window. The area of this cafeteria is not small at all, but it is only a part of the cafeteria. There are also two doors on one side, with the words "Area 2-B, Area 3-C" written on them, which should be the other two dining rooms.
As for the source of the rotting meat smell, there were many corpses lying on the floor not far from the entrance.
Airon knew immediately that they were corpses, there were numerous corpses on the ground with their stomachs open as if they had been eaten by animals.
Airon knew it was not a wild beast, all these people were attacked and killed by walkers, but then the question arose, how did they die? Why did more than 20 people die in the same place without any survivors?
After confirming the interior, Airon signaled to everyone who was motionless looking at the scene inside. There were many reactions, which made him think it was because not many were used to seeing terrifying scenes like this.
Not satisfied, Airon walked through the door and reached area 2-B.
"It's all very quiet..." After checking the sound on the other side, he made some sounds to find out if there were any walkers inside.
But the inside seemed very quiet. The moment he gave the command, Airon entered and saw a long corridor that had separate rooms on one side. After walking carefully to the door of the outer room, he stopped at a door. When he entered he discovered that there were many things, various entertainments that seemed to be served to them by the workers in this place.
"It must have been fun to work here if all this stuff belonged to everyone, but I take back my words if it's only for certain people."
Daryl picked up a handful of delicate silverware from the table and tossed it on the floor in some disgust. The rest of the people came in as well, and a group searched several rooms inside.
Glenn reached the door to the innermost private room and knocked on the closed door as well. This time, the unique sound of walkers came from inside.
Boom!
Opening the door violently, Glenn used great force and threw the walker not far behind the door to the floor. The moment the door was fully opened, Glenn's eyes froze, and then he showed an angry expression, and swung his knife straight to kill the walker. The walker still struggling to stand on the ground died.
Amy and Andrea behind him immediately saw the situation in the room and immediately exclaimed, "Oh, God."
Amy and Andrea backed away from the room.
Glenn looked at the scene in front of him with very hard feelings to digest, and could not react properly. Inside the room, there was a girl with long hair who was dead, with bites on her neck and chest. Her killer, an old walker who appeared to be a cleaning department worker who had turned from a walker a long time ago.
"How dramatic, shit!" Daryl turned his head to look at Amy and Andrea.
Daryl walked into the room, reached over to a bedside table and grabbed some cigarette things that were still in prime condition and began inspecting the man's corpse on the floor.
"He didn't need food..." Daryl looked at the girl who appeared to have died recently.
"This worker was stabbed, the knife is still in his waistband... I can only think that girl tried to take out the walker and failed."
"Maybe she was hungry and was looking for food..." Abraham looked at the girl and didn't say much more.
"Tough luck, looks like she was consumed by fear."
