Bab 9: Part 2 (3)

The old lady's words surprised the couple as she hit her cane three times successively on the ground.

"I was passing by and I saw a spell of poverty and suffering upon your house. I decided to reverse it on one condition. That you demonstrate outstanding kindness and you did." She revealed.

The old woman thereafter touched the door with her cane and a light emerged from it. It grew and completely enveloped the hut. Then…

"Lungelo!" shouted Mr. Paddy as he stepped out of the manor house and rushed to the 1961 black Jaguar E-type to sit on the passenger seat with his newborn heir.

The forty-year-old driver came out of the male employees' residence at a bolt speed, rejoined his Master inside the car, and in no time started off the engine.

"To Ngwempisi river!" ordered Mr. Paddy whose voice's intensity made it clear to Lungelo that he was going on a lifetime mission.

"And make sure to reach there before the sunset, shall you want to keep your fancy lifestyle!" The baron increased Lungelo's already mounting pressure.

The latter made a short and quiet prayer then pressed the accelerator and rolled the fastest he could toward the location of the holy river in the south.

Mr. Paddy's heir slept unbothered. The driver even missed a bend and nearly ended his race against an electrical pole.

Strangely, the incident didn't wake the toddler up who instead smiled in his sleep at his dad, for he was enjoying the moment.

Lungelo continued his frenetic rally against the clock when suddenly at one kilometer away from the Ngwempisi river, the car's dashboard signaled a low fuel level.

He drew his Master's attention to the issue and insisted that they had to stop the car to avoid an accident and pursue the journey on foot.

The terrible news on the spot upset Mr. Paddy but rapidly he calmed down, for it was not the time to lose one's control.

Lungelo parked the car on the side and they hopped out. The landlord heaved his eyes to the sky and the sun rays were gradually vanishing away.

He then looked at his newborn and hot tears began to cascade down his jaws. Lungelo saw his Master in his lowest form and exclaimed: "Wait a minute! Sir, I think I have a solution."

"Look over there!" He told Mr. Paddy as he ran toward a bike that was pulled over.

Lungelo approached the two-wheelers and couldn't believe his eyes. There was a key on the contact. He turned it on, pressed the pedal and the motor started.

The forty-year-old servant jumped on top of the bike and rolled back to the position of his Master who climbed on the two-wheelers with his heir.

Without any further ado, Lungelo resumed the voyage. As he was doing so, a man precipitously came out of the nearby forest and yelled: "That's my bike!"

However, it was too late. Lungelo and his Master were out of the two-wheeler's owner's sight.

They arrived on the Ngwempisi river shores as the last sun rays shone weaker. Mr. Paddy hastily got off the bike and ran to the slightly agitated waters.

He bent down and with the palm of his right hand, poured some of the holy liquid on his son's forehead, then on his while he silently made a prayer.

With the satisfactory feeling of a mission well accomplished, Lungelo stood behind and witnessed the strong father and son moment.

Done, Mr. Paddy came up to his employee and thanked him for his loyalty and devotion.

The sky was now completely dark. A man cried out from a distance: "Hey, that's my bike!" as he sprinted toward Lungelo and his Master.

Finally, after a few seconds, he closed the gap. He was breathing with difficulty.

"You have no right to take it without my permission." expressed the man who looked young, athletic, and around twenty years of age.

Mr. Paddy presented him his excuses and told him he had just saved the world. The young man was confused by the baron's words and looked at Mr. Paddy like he needed an explanation.

However, the landlord confessed to him that the story was too long and complex and they would need to sit around a table filled with plenty of food and drinks. So he invited him onto his property.
