"Yeah! That's what everyone says." Her father had never shared his past with him, but the villagers had. After his parents passed away, no one spoke of it anymore. Su Qing fondly reminisced about the days when her parents were alive. Those were wonderful times.

"Actually, Father wouldn't have minded having only daughters if Mother didn't want a son." Su Qing's eyes welled up with tears as she spoke, her voice becoming nasal. "Father loved us deeply. He never favoured sons over daughters."
