Bab 46: Chapter 46: The Game Begins

Clasping his hand firmly in both of her unbound hands, Brynn stared into the face of the mighty Alpha of the Dagrun Pack. Her grandfather. Though lined with age and strife, there were traces in that face she recognized: the gentle slope of the high cheekbones he gave her mother, the toasted brown eyes he gave to Brynn, and the tiny cleft in the chin shared by all three.

“I know this isn’t easy for you,” Cedric said with as much tenderness as Brynn thought him capable of. “Important decisions in our station rarely are. They grow easier with time.”

Brynn nodded as she allowed tears to trail down her cheeks.

Just outside the chamber where they now stood, Brynn could hear the rumble of voices and clatter of moving bodies as the Pack assembled in the outer clearing.

Edwin and Marianne stood behind their Alpha, both with hands clasped before them. Diligent servants awaiting orders.
