Bab 43: Chapter 43: Fated Curse

Brynn forgot her food entirely as Cedric’s words rang in her ears.

Her mind was a hurricane, her thoughts sweeping through her like rushing winds, tearing down all the constructs built of what she envisioned herself to be. Her emotions were a torrential downpour, washing away the debris.

‘Renounce William,’ he had said.

‘Swear fealty to me.’

‘My only heir.’

‘Eventual husband.’

‘Luna.’

Brynn took a deep, steadying breath and looked around the table.

Anthony’s face had lost its menacing, dangerous sparkle. The other man looked down at his bowl.

Cedric’s eyes bore into Brynn.

“Why?” she asked finally.

“I would think that was obvious,” Cedric replied.

“Why would you want me to be your heir?” she asked more specifically.

“Again,” Cedric said impatiently, “that seems rather obvious.”
