William smirked at Brynn, but it did not reach his eyes. Everything they just discussed hung chaotically in the air around them – Alpha Cedric’s history, Brynn’s heritage, and the ways in which the two likely merged. Every revelation they made seemed to have split into a dozen more questions. Brynn felt buried beneath it all.

‘You belong with me,’ he had said. ‘Always.’

Such a bold statement. He barely knew her. The fire between them, that inferno of a tether that tugged them both … it was not enough. It couldn’t be. He was being irrational and … reckless.

‘Reckless, silly girl,’ her people called her. Perhaps William was cut from the same cloth - foolish. How could he promise her a space beside him after knowing her for such a short time? And in such tumultuous circumstances?
