"Sir, your mother is here." Becca informed through the intercom and Pete looked up from his laptop with surprise.
"She is?"
"Yes, sir."
"Let her in." Pete said and rose up from his seat. He started towards the door, expecting her to walk through any second.
"Hello, Pete Hudson," Edna knocked and chirped, poking her head into his office with a cheerful smile.
"Mum," Pete smiled back, always amused by her unchanging entrance.
Edna fully opened the door and stepped in. "Surprised to see me?" She made a cute angle of her brow and a cute face.
"Can't say I'm not. Aren't you supposed to be at the airport with dad?"
"Yes, I am, but I wanted to check up on my son first and see how he's faring." She trailed her eyes over him. "You look good. Better than you did when you came over last week."
Pete gestured towards the sofa for her to sit. "I guess you and your husband talked about me after I left."
