Brett was ushered into the guest hall when Lord Marcus Caldwell was ready to receive him.

He was pushed roughly to the floor. The Alpha cursed under his breath when his knees hit the granite floor. These vampires were truly growing on him, he thought sarcastically.

The three Caldwells sat some distance away from him like members of the royal family.

"So, I understand that you have made a decision," Lord Marcus Caldwell remarked coldly. "Do tell us."

"I agree to defect to your side and fight against Organization X," Brett said. "But! I have a few conditions."

The patriarch did not expect Brett to agree without demanding something in return, so he nodded and urged him, "Speak."

Brett rose to his feet and stood as a proud Alpha in front of the three pure-blood vampires.

Looking straight at the Lord, Brett said, "I want the Parliament to vouch for my entire werepire pack's safety. No hair must be curled during the confrontation."
