"A camera?"
A student muttered after he saw the object the general took out from his pocket. It was a small-size camera with the shape of a circle and a similar shape lens viewing all the students. The students were bewildered at first by this strange object who appeared to be a camera, but they were suddenly interested as they realized it seemed it was no ordinary.
The camera they knew was similar before the catastrophe happened. Even their phone had a camera that had been upgraded with the current times. However, the camera object in front of them completely did not exist in their memory. Hence the cause of their interest.
"As you are all probably aware, this camera was no ordinary." The General continued to let the students see more about the camera. "This camera was inspired by the famous camera before the catastrophe. Some might be unaware of it since all of you are still a kid. This camera is a three-sixty-degree perspective inspired by the two lenses go pro 360-degree camera!"
The students were enthralled and amazed by the General's introduction. Although the general was clearly not good at speech, he could completely play the student's attention with his words.
"However, the three-sixty degree go pro camera was clearly the low-quality version of the current camera I hold." The General placed the camera atop his bald head. "This camera could only record the views surrounding you except your body for your privacy. This camera aimed to record your battle performance inside the dungeons since we could not get inside."
"All of you should know the restrictions of the dungeon, right?" The General's thick eyebrows raised. "If only the dungeon allowed humans who could destroy the boss in one punch, then the problem regarding the existing dungeon would be lessened."
"In addition, the dungeon you are all about to challenge is almost reaching the expiration date or so what we called." The General was irked when he saw the student's stare as though complaining he was mentioning the topic he already mentioned.
"This is only to remind all of you that if all of you failed to kill the boss. A dungeon break, where the dimensional zone and the wall disappeared, would happen, causing the dimensional monster able to cross the human world and attack our civilians. As future awakeners, it is our duty to protect mankind!"
The General raised his voice as he aimed to scold them due to their lack of awareness. How could they be ignorant and have the leisure to bother other things when it comes to the dungeon? Did they forget the catastrophe that happened a decade ago? It should be because they were prioritized by the adult at that time which made them act so spoiled.
"I'm pretty sure that all your teacher did not fail to teach you the current understanding when it comes to the dungeon." The General sweep his eyes to the instructors far away who wanted to watch their students with pride.
"Look at their eyes when they were looking at you. Their eyes were feeling proud for their students were about to pursue their dreams, which every teacher should feel. They must have felt satisfied seeing their students about to become something they could only look up to."
The General continued. "Imagine if your teacher had the same potential as you. Do you all really think he would have chosen the current profession they have? Every man or woman's dream was to become something humanity or their country was proud of. However, they knew that their potential could not bring them to reach their dream, which drives them to the passion of passing those dreams unto someone in the hope to satisfy their desire."
The General felt satisfied by the reactions he caused by his emotional speech, as the students, mostly girls, were already broken into tears as they watched their instructors feeling grateful.
"They are selfish. All of you are right. However, their selfishness brought all of you here to stand and compete to become the students of the awakener's academy. So be proud and make yourself and your teacher's dream come true!"
The General halted his emotional speech sensing the killing intent directed to him behind his back. He decided not to bring their parents to continue inspiring the students once more, as he felt it should be time to move on.
"Any way have your eyes unto me. It's now time to form your group so we can now proceed and travel to the dungeon." The General then pointed his finger to the left before moving, while pointing four times more, to the right.
"All the students who specialized in support areas gather here. Students who specialize in close-combat areas gather here. Students who specialize in the defensive area gather here. Students who specialize in scout and gathering information gather here. And lastly, students who specialized in the range area."
The student hastily moved to the area where they deemed themselves should belong. They did not dare to ask more questions, as they obediently proceed to their area without thinking more to decide.
"This is how should be the awakener would act. You all should stop hesitating and regretting later. On the battlefield, having better judgment is the greatest weapon all of you grasp. Hence…" The General halted his speech once more when the killing intent behind him intensified.
He smiled awkwardly and continued.
"Anyway, since everyone is already in their area, I will now explain your position." He looked at the support specialized student and said, "What I meant about support is general. Either you have healing Soul power, a student specialized in treating injuries and wounds, or a student specialized in herbs and plants which is edible or not, etc."
"I will now give you one more chance. Do you think you can perform better in a supporting role?" The General's stern face brought tension to the support role students. "If your race car was damaged amidst the racing competition, do you think you can become a mechanic who would fix the car before it competed again and won the race?"
His question analogy made the student in the support role contemplate more if they could perform what the mechanics achieved. To think the damaged car made a comeback not mainly because of the driver, but because of the mechanics. This means despite their role as though useless from their perspective, they could become the main character they ought to become.
"Meanwhile student who picked the close-combat area." He gazed at the group beside the support role area. "Do you know why I said close combat instead of the offensive specialized area? It's because Offensive is also versatile. It could be a person who specialized in Bombing, or a person who specialized in attacking at a distance, or a person who was offensive with words."
The General sensed he was about to off-topic again and continued.
"Anyway, the close-combat role should be the role of the student who could be the leader as they were responsible for their group. They would become the spear of their group, if perform well, would decide the group's achievement."
The close-combat role student's motivation ignited after hearing what the General said. Even Draven, Jasper, Stella, Aiden, and Isabella could not hide their eyes filled with courage and determination. The General was satisfied until he moved on to the defense and other specialized areas to provoke their motivation.
"Since everyone was ready now. Let's go to the dungeon."
After he said his declaration, the general slowly turned his head as he stare at Kestrel in an awkward manner. Even the other three distinguished scouts stared at Kestrel with an ambiguous looks. Kestrel was confused at first, but later realized the reason they were looking at him.
"You all fucker. Do all of you want me to become a babysitter?" He grumbled as he hide his wings filled with black feathers.
Hold up! Before you leave. Don't you think I deserve your powerstone, right?
