Bab 508: No thanks

Situ Zhilan clenched her fingers around the chopsticks which she was holding in her hands. Her eyes turned red as she glared at her brother for saying something so rude to her. No matter what, they were related to one another as they shared the same father, how could he call her a poisonous woman? 

And that too in front of so many relatives?! 

Though she wanted to flare up, Situ Zhilan knew that this was neither the time nor the place. Her persona of being kind and understanding had been long drilled into the eyes of others, if she got angry then all her hard work for years would go down the drain. 

' No one likes a woman with ambitions written on her face. I have to be a woman as gentle as the trickle of rain if I want to be accepted as the heir,' Situ Zhilan thought silently. If she wanted to slowly embed herself along with her brothers, then she needed to be collected and calm.
