The knights sat to Henry's right, their expressions tame but thoughts racing as they searched the knight's face for any signs of how they should be handling the situation.
They had been rudely awakened do the mages' disturbance and they all had swords, but they felt naked without armor on. Despite their tiredness, each one snapped to attention easily, the instinct of a knight trumping any other feeling in their hearts.
Irene in particular was thrown out of her element. As far as she knew, knights didn't have this much collaboration with mages other than the occasional healing when it was possible. Otherwise, they kept contact to the minimum.
Though perhaps this was why Henry was chosen to be in his position. He seemed to go against a lot of customs - making those around him with traditional values question him at each turn but blindly follow him simply because of the good he had within his heart.
