Bab 466: Not The War They Were Expecting

Even though Josef looked at the knights with suspicion, Henry realized quickly that he was knowledgeable in the situation at hand. The young duke offered to compensate him for his time if he would be willing to sit with them and explain what had been happening. 

Joseph grew up with a mage parent who spoke ill of knights which led to his overall mistrust of them. However, also true to the characteristics of a mage, since money was involved he didn't see why he had to hold back when it came to giving the knights the information they were looking for.

The knights even treated him to a meal at the in that found space for them, though it was lacking in much flavor because they had stopped importing and exporting from surrounding farms due to it no longer being safe to travel.
