Unsheathing my katana I charged toward the small groups of zombies, maneuvering around them, killing them one by one.
This reminds me of my past life, the thrill and adrenaline rush when your life's on the line just to prevail against all odds feels great. Chaos always suited me more. I realized this when I completed my very first heist. Explosions, shootouts, stealth, and massacres, were common things during my past life. I can't wait to see what this world has to offer.
Looking around me there were no more zombies in the vicinity. Walking inside the hallways I began using the Map function to search for them.
It seems that Saeko was on the first floor in the Nurse's office like in the anime and Miku is also located on the right wing on the first floor but she is hiding in a classroom with two others.
I know Saeko can handle herself well so I headed toward Miku. Opening one of the hallway windows I climbed out and slid down the building to avoid the hordes. The first floor is going to be packed with zombies due to the idiots killing themselves when it started.
Getting to the first floor I opened a window silently and looked around. As expected there was a horde of zombies walking around and one stood out among them. It was around three meters tall, bulky, and had red eyes. Observing it for a while it seemed that it was able to see as it wasn't moving around mindlessly like the others and I wasn't sure if it had any special abilities either.

'I'm not sure how the zombie mutated this early but I can find out later. Right now saving Saeko and Miku is my priority.'
Erasing my presence, I climbed into the school and headed toward Miku. Luckily the mutant was on the opposite side of the school, even though the zombie is a mutated one it didn't seem that strong. Other than its increased height and strength I didn't see anything that special about it, though I can be wrong.
I continued to walk while thinking, the system map showed Yukki's location so I knew exactly where that class was.
Reaching the corridor where the classroom was, there was a small horde of zombies in the hallway blocking the classroom.
'I gotta finish this quickly and silently without alerting them… guess I can use that.'
Breathing Styles.
Breathing Styles are swordsmanship styles that make use of an esoteric breathing technique known as Total Concentration Breathing practiced and taught by members of the Demon Slayer Corps and are used in combat by Demon Slayers. Derived from Sun Breathing, the first one ever created. The majority of known Breathing Styles mimic a certain element of nature (i.e. flame, water, and wind) and replicate it with the user's movements, techniques, and abilities.
There are 3 types of Concentration Breathing.
Total Concentration Breathing is an advanced and esoteric breathing technique where a user inhales the maximum amount of oxygen within a specific breath pattern to raise their physical and mental prowess to their utmost limits. The effects include a plethora of enhanced physical and mental abilities, like superhuman physical characteristics (i.e. strength, speed, stamina, durability, and agility), faster thought processes, maximizing concentration, and hyper-information processing. At a more advanced level, Total Concentration is also capable of clotting wounds from severe injuries and slowing down the circulation of poison in the bloodstream.
Recovery Breathing, which, by taking a brief moment to focus and steady the user's breath, allows the user to recover from fatigue and stiff muscles that prevent his/hers body from moving, which they can use when overexerting the body
Total Concentration: Constant is a Total Concentration Breathing state during the morning, noon, and night, and even while asleep that advanced Demon Slayers, such as the Hashira, can constantly maintain. There is an immense difference in strength, speed, and stamina between someone who can maintain Total Concentration Breathing at all times and someone who cannot.
Taking my katana in hand, I crouched and dashed toward the horde of zombies
"Shadow Breathing Eleventh Form: Flickering Shadow!"
I whispered to myself in a calm voice, visible exhaling steam from my mouth.
*Slash* *Slash* *Slash* *Slash* *Slash*
Appearing and reappearing behind each zombie began I decapitated the head of each zombie, causing the scene to instantly transform into a shower of blood. I charged toward the zombies, slashing and destroying the zombies in swift motion with a cold indifferent expression on my face.
*Slash* *Thud* *Slash* *Thud*
This continued for about 30 seconds before everything stopped.
Heads and blood were quickly pooling over the area creating a large puddle of blood in the area.
'This is the first time I used this on someone and I gotta say it's very effective.' I thought to myself, controlling my breathing.
Walking up to the door and knocking, alerting Miku that it was me. Opening the door quickly she tackled me with a hug teary-eyed. Sniffling into my chest I hugged her back quietly comforting her, thankfully she restrained herself quickly as she pulled back slowly and wiped her tears.
"I thought I wasn't going to see you again. ", Miku said sniffling with a relieved smile on her face.
"It's okay you're safe now, I'm here," I told her in a whisper, "Who are the two people with you?"
"It's the recruits from the track team.", she told me, dragging me into the classroom, and closing the door behind us, "Taniuchi is the blue-haired girl with glasses and Kawamoto is a brown-haired girl."

'Wait a minute aren't they the bisexual duo in the series I thought to myself, as we introduced ourselves before I explained what needs to be done.
"Right now we have to make it to the roof to regroup with Saya and Kohta. But before that, we need to get to Saeko and before you ask yes I know where she is. She's at the infirmary with Shizuka."
"How do you know this?", Kawamoto asked.
"I knew that she would prioritize finding a solution or at least an explanation of what's happening at the moment, and who is better than the school nurse who had studied medicine to explain it to her?", I answered, "Come on let's get going"
Walking out of the classroom the first thing they saw was the decapitated bodies and a pool of blood. They looked like they were on the brink of throwing up when I brought their heads close to my face.
"I suggest you guys keep it to yourself. I don't want to deal with a herd of zombies while protecting you."
They seemed to hold it in as I continued to stare into their eyes. They seemed to have calmed as I let them go. Nodding they followed closely behind me as we quietly made our way toward the infirmary. Drawing near the infirmary, I could faintly hear Shizuka and Saeko talking to each other about the situation out here. Walking up to the door, I told them it was me and that I was there to get them out of there.
Opening the door, Saeko came up to me and gave me a sensual kiss. The events unfolded too quickly, and the observers no longer knew how to react. And yet…
Shizuka watched our display with interest. Miku blushed and shifted her gaze to me pouting. Kaniuchi and Kawamoto also just blushed and turned away.
"Where's Saya and Kohta?", she asked, after the kiss with a slightly flushed face.
"They're on the rooftop with two others who happened to have the same idea as us." I told her, "Right now we need to get regroup with them, get to the faculty lounge and get out of the school"
"Agreed", she responded.
Checking outside the infirmary there were no zombies in sight. Tearing Shizuka's skirt for her, Saeko stated it was a necessity to move easier. Complaining that it was a designer skirt I told her that I would get a new one for her later. Smiling at me, she told me she would hold me to that. Continuing up to the roof access, we stopped about twenty feet from the door. Finding the area full of undead, several people were holding the zombies back. Realizing they weren't going to last much longer, I sighed and got ready.
Give Saeko her Katana we ran out to the horde and quickly chopped them into pieces. Seeing us there the survivors looked relieved as they watched us kill them with ease. Walking past them, texting Saya I was at the door, I heard them on the other side clearing the debris away to open the door a few moments later. The moment the door opened, I was hugged by a relieved Saya.
"I missed you," she said, tightening the hug.
"I missed you too." I smiled
"Ara~ Miku it looks like Saya trying to jump the gun," Saeko said, teasingly.
"It's great that you guys are safe," Saya said, ignoring Saeko's comment.
"Alright, we need to get to the facility room. Takashi and I will take points, and Saeko and Rei will take the rear. If a large group appears Saeko, Kohta, and I will handle it.", I said before turning to the others, "The rest of you, keep your eyes and ears open. If you get bit we are leaving you behind, their bite is infectious and spreads quickly. Any of you bit?"
Seeing one of the boys hide his hand, I forced him to show us. Having had his hand bitten I pierced his heart with my Katana.
"Don't test me if you endanger my group by hiding your injury or with hidden intentions I will kill you. If you're bitten, leave now and I won't shoot you immediately.", I told them, "Now then, let's get going."
Taking point, I took care of the zombies we encountered silently to minimize the chances of attracting a horde. Eventually getting inside the faculty room, we barricaded the door tightly. Tossing me the keys for the bus, Saeko turned on the tv to see if the local news had anything to report. While they got updated on the current situation, I took a look at my status.

The student who came up saw it on the news… Nothing good.
The whole world was plunged into chaos and anarchy. The dead walked the streets of cities, and people only helped them in the extermination of humanity. Countries are considering the idea of nuclear strikes on large cities with large populations.

*Turned off TV*
"I don't believe it. I can't believe it… Nothing like this has ever happened before.." Rei said but nobody answered seemingly in their thoughts, "Hey, I'm right aren't I? There's got to be somewhere that's still okay, right? Everything's probably the same as it ever was…"
"You're completely wrong," Saya told her.
"Don't talk like that," Takashi said.
"I can't help it!! The fact is that we have an apocalyptic pandemic on our hands." she retorted
"A pandemic…" Shizuka muttered.
"The infection is spreading like wildfire!" The rest of the world has the same disease we have here."
"Is it like influenza?"
"No it's more like the Black Plague from the 14th century or the Spanish Flu of 1918," I spoke up.
"What did they do to stop the disease?" Takashi asked.
"They tried many, many things… a lot of people died, but it ended suddenly. People developed an immunity to it."
"But…People who die come back and start attacking the living," Kohta said.
"...You're saying there's no way to stop it from spreading," Saeko said
"When it gets hot, their muscles will rot and fall off their bones, and they won't be able to move anymore," Shizuka exclaimed.
"And how long will the decomposition take?" Saeko asked with interest.
"Well~u…. This is ~o… About three weeks, so we need to find a safe and just wait it out,"
"What makes you think that they will start to rot at all? The dead have not risen before." Saya remarked.
"I'd worry the least about the dead if I were you," I said with a calm expression.
"That is?" Takashi asked.
"I'm sure that almost all the food supplies that don't have preservatives will deteriorate within a week or two."
Everyone focused on me.
"You mean…" Saya looked at me in shock.
"Yes, there will be hunger. A huge number of people have zombies, and the survivors are mired in panic and anarchy. There will be no delivery other than a support crate from the military if they decide to do so. Besides, I'm worried about how the virus is transferred. Perhaps even the water in the taps is already infested."
After that everyone in the group frowned at the upcoming future.
