After their rather remarkable arrival, things calmed down quickly. Well, at least that was true for those who had arrived with Esmé as well as the three that stood atop one of the castle's towers. Frankly, now that Esmé had arrived and completely annihilated the battlefield, all the soldiers that were prepared for a long siege now had their jobs changing rapidly. As nice as it might have been to have the siege end prematurely, now these soldiers would need to dedicate their resources into keeping civilians alive, sheltered, and fed. The battle was over but logistics seemed to never end.
Valentina was obviously going to take part in those logistics too, but now wasn't the time. She was still exhausted from her fight with the taniwha, and if she were going to be honest with herself, she really just wanted to lay down and sleep away a day with Dahlia by her side. Unfortunately, not everything could wait and some things would need to be completed before anything else.
Wrote this while sleepy. Valentina and I were doing the same thing, lol. However, I managed to write this at very good speeds somehow, so I'll accept it.
I do feel like the content of recent chapters has been perhaps a little slow, so I appologise for that, but after all the action, my brain just seemed to be gravitating to a slower pace now.
Anyways, I should go sleep before I just faint on my desk! As always, I hope you're having a wonderful day though~
