Fan Cai's worries abated slightly as it got replaced by curiosity. He has always been naturally curious, which he wasn't sure was something he was born with or it was a consequence of living alone, and it was his way of coping.
Regardless, his eyes shone with interest as he gazed at the fog before him, wondering how it worked.
"I still can't sense him," he muttered as he deployed his spiritual sense again. His curiosity only grew as a result and it wasn't long before it got the better of him, and before he knew it his body moved on its own as he stretched out his hand toward the fog.
His eyes instantly widened in surprise and abject fear as he hurriedly pulled back his hand from the fog.
With beads of sweat already forming on his face, he clenched and unclenched his fists several times, with his eyes fully trained on the hand that he had just pulled out of the fog.
