Bab 282: His Destiny

Basileus was smart enough to figure out what Ebari's plans were and why he needed to go to the lowest levels of the castle where the dungeon was. 

For a long time, the prince had suspected Ebari was keeping Kruos close enough to monitor. It was smart to keep him where he was within reach but out of reach of others. Yet, it was also completely ridiculous to assume someone loyal to Kruos wouldn't eventually try to retrieve the former emperor. 

It was a special day for Basileus and he wanted to remain by Varya's side but he had her permission to leave for a moment and he couldn't keep his sick curiosity out of the situation. For so long he had wanted to see Kruos face to face and show him what he had pushed him to become. 

But what was the reasoning for this meeting if that's what it turned out to be? How would coming face-to-face with Kruos be an engagement gift?
