Bab 51: An (Un)Invited guest

"Ahh, dodged a spike to face with that one." Lucius stretched as he walked out of his now closed portal.

'Should I make myself a staff?' He pondered as he looked to his set of rings. 'Could throw spells further maybe... A spell bow?'

Lucius hummed as he casually waltzed through the gates of Riverwood, the picturesque greens and browns of unspoiled oaks standing over the wild grass complimented the simple life of its inhabitants.

The aged cobbles he walked on still stood firm with his every step on his advance to his cozy wooden home that peaked itself through the trees behind the village.

It wasn't a great home, but it certainly stood out amongst the others. A small garden full of alchemical ingredients lay off to the side of the mouth of the home. A large log cabin towered in the clearing of tree and rock with two spiralling sentry like towers framing its face. A large forge of orange and black hue sat neatly across from the house, surrounded by carved stone.

If Lucius had to settle somewhere in this war ridden land, It might as well be here. Away from the conflict and the centre of the province with good neighbours. It can't get much better.

"Ciri." He called out as he opened the door. "I'm back."

A messy trail of ale and wine bottles littered the floor, leading to the hearth of the home. A muffled giggle was heard through the thick walls of wood as Lucius massaged his temple at the growing headache that he guessed will build.

'If she drunk all my wine I swear to Akatosh she's getting spanked.' He cursed as he swung the door open.

"Luci!~ Look who came back." Ciri slurred as she rowdily jumped out of her chair.

"Hello, Lucius. Bet you weren't expecting to see me again." Serana smiled with an awkward wave.

The dragonborn just stood there aimlessly, staring at the empty bottles of his Fellmoor Wine with lifeless eyes.

"You... Utter, bitch." He whispered. "That's wine from Oblivion itself you stupid girl! Do you know the trouble I went through with the Aureals for that!" He shook her shoulders.

"Oops?" Ciri laughed like a madwomen.

"Excuse me, Serana. I'll be right back." He forced a smile and holstered Ciri over his shoulder to put her to bed.

"What are you doing here? Daddy kick you out?" Lucius snipped with a small smirk as he joined Serana by the fire.

"I'd rather not be here either, but I needed to talk to you. It's important, so please just listen." She politely requested.

"Right, sorry. My mood has been soured after finding all my wine gone." Lucius sulked with a shake of his head. "Why was she drinking with you anyway?" He asked.

"Aha." Serana shyly glanced away. "Something about an idiot being gone too long...And, that I should keep my claws away from them." She replied, a faint red dusting her cheeks.

"Huuh~ That girl." He sighed in slight frustration. "I apologise on her behalf."

"It's fine." She smiled.

"So, the reason your here." He steered the conversation back on topic.

"It's... well, it's about me. And the Elder Scroll that was buried with me." She said.

"Hm...What about you?" He rose an eyebrow.

"The reason I was down there... and why I had the Elder Scroll." She started, her golden eyes darting around the room. "It all comes back to my father. I'm guessing you figured this part out already, but my father's not exactly a good person. Even by vampire standards. He wasn't always like that, though. There was... a turn. He stumbled onto this obscure prophecy and just kind of lost himself in it."

"I'm sick to death of all these prophecies..." Lucius mumbled. "I'll hazard a guess, and say it's all vague and convoluted, huh?" He showed a small grin of amusement.

"Exactly, heh. It's all pointless and vague, like every prophecy out there. The part he latched onto said that vampires would no longer need to fear the sun. That's what he's after. He wants to control the sun, have vampires control the world." Serana informed. "Anyway, my mother and I didn't feel like inviting a war with all of Tamriel, so we tried to stop him. That's why I was sealed away with the Scroll."

"You took a big risk coming here. I imagine he won't be pleased to find his precious scroll gone again."

"You noticed that too?" She chimed in surprise. "I did. But something about you makes me think I can trust you. I hope I'm not wrong." She finished with a smile, her hands folded on her lap.

"Perhaps." He quipped. " So, I imagine the prophecy is on the scroll and you'd like to read it?"

"Whatever it says, it will have something that can help us stop my father. But of course, neither of us can read it." Serana sighed.

"Could always go to Cyrodiil. Moth priests have ceremonies for reading the scrolls." Lucius hummed. "I'd rather not go to another province. Do you have any ideas?"

"Well, back before I... you know. The College of Winterhold was the first place I'd think to go for any kind of magic or historical thing. The wizards know about all kinds of things that people shouldn't know about. Actually, now that I think of it... I'm going to come along with you. I've been really wanting to get out and explore a bit." Serana stood, holding out the scroll to Lucius. " A sign of trust." She nodded.

"2 Elder Scrolls in one lifetime... I must be cursed." He voiced out with a hollow chuckle. "Well, you can take the guest room. Ciri'll be up past midday. We can sort out the details when she's awake." Lucius decided, and carefully took the scroll from Serana's icy hands.
