Bab 86: Tutoring

*Morpheus pov*

A week after Lily asked me for help with her divining rod the time for her tutoring session started. I scheduled it at the same time Xenophilius had his since he is still reading the book I gave him.

Xenophilius showed up first, his usual glinting eyes full of boundless emotions felt dull. Large Black circles surrounded his eyes and his gait was slow and lethargic, "Xenophilius, are you feeling unwell?" I asked while putting away some textbooks

Xenophilius yawned before rubbing his eyes and slowly replying, "I'm okay professor, this book is an exciting yet depressing read," he had a half smile on his face while holding up the book with his other hand

I shook my head, "Feel free to ask questions that's what I'm here for after all," I don't know how far he's read but some of those passages are gruesome

He smiled a little brighter this time, "Thank you," he muttered taking his seat

The door cracked open and Lily Evans walked into the classroom she was a little more hesitant than Xenophilius probably because of nerves.

"Lily, take a seat," I said gesturing to the numerous desks

She jolted, "Thank you!" she nervously shouted taking a seat close to the center of the room

I chuckled shaking my head, "No need to be so nervous," was I really that scary?

"Sorry professor," she muttered her face reddening from embarrassment

"Okay, let's get started what are you having trouble with?" I asked while approaching her desk

From her satchel, Lily pulled out a piece of wood, "Before school started I heard from my older classmates about the first day of class so I bought some materials to make my own diving rod just in case I was fitted for that type of magic, but every time I try to carve it like the textbooks and you say I always feel like I'm doing something wrong," she admitted a frustrated look

Taking the piece of old Holly wood I asked, "This is a nice piece how much did you pay for it?" I didn't think first-generation witches had enough to afford this

She looked confused at my question, "Not that much, I don't remember the exact price," she replied

Nodding I sighed, "Let us set this aside for a moment, use this instead," I handed her a regular diving rod and set it on her desk

"Close your eyes," I said

She closed her eyes and I put something else softly on the desk, "Now, empty your mind," I spoke hypnotically

"Relax, feel your magic. Put everything out of your mind and focus on your magic," I said while waving my hand above her head relaxing her mind

"Reach your hand out," I said and she followed my directions

Her hand rose hovering above the desk, "Follow your magic," I said again and this time her hand moved to the object her magic wanted her to grasp

"Open your eyes," I announced shaking my head in disappointment

Confusion spread across her face, "A book?" she said softly

Her hand was on top of a book and not the diving rod which was much closer to her hand.

Sighing I sat on top of the desk behind me, "I guess this is my fault," I shook my head, "Xenophilius you might want to listen to this too," I said drawing him from the book

"To start I would like to apologize I should have clarified earlier. Resonating with an object like this is best done with a pure mind. What I mean by that is a mind unaffected by temptation. With you knowing about the selection and even buying the piece of Holly wood in preparation for the chance you resonated with the diving rod sometimes a wizard or witch in this case will subconsciously affect their magic to pick the object," I explained

"Yes, you most likely resonate well with a diving rod but not perfectly like with literacy divination. The subconscious desire you had to pick the diving rod influenced your magic to pick it. Believe it or not, this is a common occurrence, especially within families who mainly practice one type of divination. Luckily we caught it early so you can now focus on what your magic truly desires. Later down your career as a witch, I do advise learning about the diving rod but right now let's focus on literacy divination," I explained with a small smile

This is going to be a pain. I am going to have to redo the whole third-year class to see if this happened with anyone else, luckily the year is still relatively fresh. I should have known it would be impossible for the younger years to be influenced to choose something not suited for them unconsciously. After all the common room is a popular place for divination students to practice I heard.

Of course, I understand some students would want to learn the same thing as their older siblings or older friends but this isn't something you can just choose. Watching students who are clearly gifted in another path perusing another would be disheartening.

"So I'm suited for literacy divination instead?" Lily asked

"Yes, don't be disappointed by how simple

It looks. literacy divination is useful in all cases," I replied while putting the diving rod I got out away

"Now, let's continue but instead of the diving rod let's teach you about literacy divination you need to catch up to your peers but don't feel pressured I'm sure many will have the same problem soon," I announced levitating a stack of books over

*Narrator pov*

In the dimly lit corridors of Hogwarts, the soft glow of enchanted torches cast a warm light on the cold stone walls. The air was thick with the hushed whispers of paintings and the occasional distant creak of moving staircases. At the end of a quiet hallway, concealed behind an ancient tapestry, an unused room awaited, its door slightly ajar.

Inside, the room was adorned with dust-covered furniture draped in faded, velvet cloths. Moonlight filtered through the dusty windows, creating an ethereal ambiance. At a worn wooden table, a figure sat, his deep black eyes fixed on the entrance. The door creaked open, revealing a young Gryffindor student.

"Hello, Peter, " the figure greeted, waving his wand and closing the door behind him Peter. The room seemed to embrace the secrecy of their meeting.

"Good evening," Peter replied, his voice jittering in nervousness. "I wasn't followed," he followed up while scanning the room nervously

Peter pulled out an old map of Hogwarts from his pocket, unfolding it carefully. "I found something," he said, pointing to a hidden passageway on the map. "This leads out of the castle I think," he said nervously

The figure's eyes sparkled with curiosity. "How did you discover this hidden path, Peter?"

Peter grinned, a mixture of excitement and nerves. "Found it while in the library between two books,"

The figure took the map excitement clear in his eyes, "The Lord will be pleased," he said while stuffing the map in his robe

Peter smiled in pride.

"And what of the possible recruits?" the figure asked
