Bab 832: The Trembling Draco

Editor: Atlas Studios

Ivan was somewhat surprised when Lucius told him that most Death Eaters rebelled.

Was the infamous Dark Lord in such a terrible state?

On second thought, however, Ivan found this to be normal. The servants who were truly loyal to Lord Voldemort were all held in Azkaban, and only traitors like Malfoy could escape the Ministry of Magic.

Not to mention the fact that the Dark Lord has had a rough time since his resurrection, being forced to go toe-to-toe with his mortal enemy Harry Potter in front of everyone, seeing Dumbledore beaten up, and then flipping over in the Knockturn Alley, with no sign of his rise to power.

It was no wonder that the subordinates of the Dark Lord would rebel against him…

Although Voldemort's tragic fate was to be pitied, Ivan did not look down on him.

"Are you confident you can persuade them without the Dark Lord's knowledge, Lucius?"

"The Dark Lord has been hiding in his safe house lately, rarely appearing or summoning us. If one is careful, I doubt the Dark Lord will notice," Lucius Malfoy said hesitantly, knowing full well what Ivan was referring to.

In fact, many Death Eaters could guess that the Dark Lord was a skilled Legiliment, and few dared to lie to him.

Lucius was certain that, at any other time, he would have been caught out by the Dark Lord the moment he thought of rebelling!

However, things were different now. The Death Eaters were restless, and it was not easy for Voldemort to identify the true betrayers.

As long as they did not meet alone and avoided looking each other in the eye, it was not a problem to hide their thoughts.

Ivan nodded. He knew better than anyone the flaws in Legilimency. Once the target was on guard, the only way to access their memories was through violence, which was why he had been reluctant to reveal that he was a Legilimancer.

"So our first problem is solved," Ivan said. "What's the second?"

"The Dark Mark! The Dark Mark on a Death Eater's arm reacts when they get close to the Dark Lord, and if it can't be fixed, it will give them away!" Lucius sighed. He thought the other flaws in the plan were easy, but this one was troublesome.

"That's easy…" Ivan said, raising his eyebrows. He waved his wand gently, and a slight magical wave spread out in all directions.

Lucius was confused at first, but when he noticed that the Dark Mark on his arm was burning hot, his face changed and he looked at Ivan with surprise and shock.

"I know a thing or two about mark magic…" Ivan explained, putting down his wand.

After receiving the System's reward for his knowledge of magic, he gained an in-depth understanding of mark magic, not to mention that a few months ago he had captured many Death Eaters to study Voldemort's Dark Mark.

While Ivan was unable to relay orders to the Death Eaters in Lord Voldemort's place to teleport over and gather, he was able to briefly influence and disrupt the running of the Dark Mark.

The outward appearance of the Dark Mark is that it turns hot, similar to when Lord Voldemort is angry or empowering, and it is unlikely that Death Eaters would be able to tell the difference.

Lucius clutched the Dark Mark on his arm and exclaimed in delight, "This gives us an eighty percent chance of success…"

Having chosen betrayal, Lucius, of course, consciously turned his back on Ivan, eager for the grand plan to go off without a hitch.

The more powerful the other party was, the safer he would be, and he would not have to worry about Voldemort's revenge!

As for the remaining two levels, neither of them mentioned them. One of them depended on acting skills and adaptability, and the other was the difference in wands!

They would not be able to get their hands on Voldemort's wand in half a month, so the plan could not be perfect. They would have to play it by ear!

Ivan spent the next hour discussing the details of the plan with Lucius, particularly the personalities and names of the Death Eaters, in case he called the wrong one.

Draco stood shivering beside the fire as he listened to their plot.

Draco felt a pang of fear at the thought of what he had done years ago. He was very glad that he had not offended Ivan Harris, or he would not be alive today.

"There are seventy-one Death Eaters in Azkaban, and the one you need to watch out for the most is Bellatrix Lestrange, a fanatical Dark Lord admirer and the Dark Lord's closest and most trusted ally!"

Lucius looked at Ivan and solemnly reminded him that although his wife and Bella were sisters, he had never liked this crazy woman.

"Bella?" Ivan asked, trying to recall information about the famous female Death Eater. His memory told him that Bellatrix was one of Voldemort's most powerful Death Eaters, with a personality that could only be described as sick and insane.

Even Lucius's speech could only be described as tactful, as Bellatrix's admiration for Lord Voldemort was more than admiration.

Ivan shuddered at the memory of Lord Voldemort's grotesque snake-like face. The Death Eater had such unique tastes.

Additionally, there were fewer Death Eaters in Azkaban than Ivan had expected.

According to Lupin in the original timeline, the Death Eaters outnumbered the original Order of the Phoenix by twenty to one, meaning that at the height of Voldemort's power, there were over three hundred of them!

It seems that the Death Eaters suffered heavy casualties during the Wizarding War, or the number of prisoners would have doubled!

They talked until three o'clock in the morning, when Lucius was ready to leave the castle.

Ivan suddenly spoke up, as if he had just remembered something.

"Wait … Lucius!"

Lucius Malfoy stopped in his tracks and turned to Ivan in confusion.

"700,000 Galleons in three days to Knockturn Alley…" Ivan gently tapped the armrest of the sofa and reminded him.

'I thought you weren't short of money?'

Lucius stared at the glittering golden fireplace, his mind reeling.

Fortunately, he soon realised that Ivan needed his attitude rather than money!

After all, he had repeatedly caused trouble for the other party in the past few years, so it was indeed unreasonable not to punish him. Previously, Ivan rejected his suggestion not only because he did not lack Golden Galleons, but also because he did not want to accept him!

Lucius found this reassuring. Ivan's willingness to accept the compensation meant that he was willing to let go of their past conflicts…

"I understand, Sir Harls. The money will be here within three days!" Lucius said solemnly, wondering if seven hundred thousand Galleons would be too little.

It just so happened that Goyle, Crabbe, and the others were about to join in as well, so how could they not hand over a sum of money? They might as well gather a million Galleons and send it to the other party…
