Bab 238: The Basilisk in Madness!

When he stepped into the cave, he was greeted by the sight of spider corpses of all sizes, most of them without any wounds.
Apparently, the spiders died the moment they saw the basilisk's eyes…
The remaining few were either torn apart, heavily injured, or crushed to pieces…
Ivan couldn't help but marvel at the fighting prowess of the Basilisk,
The dead snake's eyes dealt with hordes of enemies, and then used its thick hide and deadly fangs to clean up any that escaped. Even if a nest of Acromantulas died, it would not affect the basilisk much.
Ivan's brow furrowed at the thought. Things were not going to go as smoothly as he had hoped. He could not count on the Acromantula and the basilisk fighting to the death.
The cave was large and filled with the stench of corruption.
The deeper they went, the more dead spiders there were, and Ivan saw the remains of many other animals.
There was even a centaur that looked like it had been half eaten. The lower half of the corpse was badly mutilated and covered in layers of cobwebs. There were many disgusting white spider eggs piled on top of it.
Yvonne had known that the Acromantulas were nasty creatures, but she had not expected them to have the nerve to eat centaurs.
However, Ivan was relieved when he remembered how Aghlak had allowed his children to attack Harry and Ron in the original timeline. They would even eat wizards, let alone centaurs…
Deep in the cave, there came a great hissing and a great struggle,
Ivan picked up his pace. When he saw what was happening outside, he thought the basilisk would be able to destroy the lair of the Acromantula with ease, but it seemed that it had met with some resistance?
From a distance, Ivan saw the figures of two huge creatures fighting.
The basilisk's fang-filled mouth was biting into Aragog's long limbs, and the giant spider's body was now bloated, perhaps because it had swallowed so much prey.
Aragog was clearly at an absolute disadvantage, even though he managed to avoid eye contact with the basilisk and died.
However, in the face of his natural enemy, Aragog, who was already old and weak, could not even put up a decent resistance. He could only drag his car-sized body against the sharp edges of the wall, or use his pincers to tear at the basilisk.
The basilisk's skin was unusually hard, and Aragog's stork could only leave shallow marks on it.
The old spider had no choice but to weakly call for its children to save it. However, the Acromantula in the cave was either killed by the basilisk or had fled.
As the effects of the snake's venom slowly spread throughout his body, Aragog felt himself growing weaker and weaker. Fortunately, his powerful hearing and perception after losing his sight allowed him to detect a figure approaching him.
"Help me! Wizard… I'm a friend of Hagrid's… help me!" Aragog cried, like a drowning man who has caught a duckweed. His voice was so full of life that he did not even think about why a wizard was there.
Aragog was even more pleased when the wizard opposite him agreed.
"Good!"
Ivan, of course, had no intention of rescuing Aragog, but this was a rare opportunity. While the basilisk was tying up its prey, Ivan was trapped and unable to move.
There is no better opportunity to strike than when you shed your skin…
Ivan holds his wand and activates the enchantment…
The two behemoths tangled together in front of them suddenly felt the threat of death looming over them.
Aragog, believing Ivan to be there to help him, did not move.
The basilisk didn't understand English, but it didn't want anyone to interrupt its hunt, so it raised its head and bared its teeth at Ivan in a show of force…
"Shadowless Blade!"
As soon as the basilisk opened its mouth, Ivan swung his wand, and an invisible blade of magic sliced through the air with a strange noise and entered the basilisk's mouth.
A shrill roar echoed through the deep cave…
The Shadowless Blade, which was extremely penetrative to begin with, was enhanced with enhanced runes, and it sliced off a chunk of the basilisk's flat head, severed one of its eyes, and pierced a hole through its mouth.
The basilisk writhed wildly, trying to throw off Aragog and drag itself towards Ivan.
The basilisk's remaining eye stared at the young wizard in front of it. The pain was so intense that it had no time to think about why Ivan would suddenly attack it. Its only thought was to kill!
The basilisk's bucket-thick tail swept towards Ivan with astonishing speed!
Ivan did not expect the basilisk to have such a strong life force that it did not die even after having half of its head cut off.
He clearly remembered Harry wielding the Sword of Gryffindor and killing the basilisk with one blow!
Could it be that Harry, the Savior, had been so lucky? Had he pierced the basilisk's brain, or was there something special about the Sword of Gryffindor?
Ivan didn't have time to think. The snake's tail was already in front of him… and Ivan commanded the Unicorn's Shadow to materialize next to him, blocking the attack.
The Patronus's cone-shaped horn pierced the tough hide, tearing a long gash in the basilisk's tail.
Ivan, not daring to open his eyes, only had time to activate the protective ring before he was knocked back.
Fortunately, the impact was somewhat weakened by the Patronus and the Shield Charm, and Ivan was not badly injured.
Taking advantage of the distraction, Ivan threw out the five buttons in his left hand to remove the Transfiguration Charm.
Immediately after, the tip of the wand lit up with a blinding light!
"Fluorescence!"
Under Ivan's full power, the cave was brightly lit in the dead of night!
In the next moment, five rooster crows sounded,
The crowing of a rooster is undoubtedly fatal to a basilisk…
The blood-drenched basilisk seemed to have been triggered by something, and it became even more frenzied. Its huge body slithered around the cave, and its sharp hissing filled the air…
Three of the roosters were crushed to death by the snake's huge body, and Ivan once again controlled the Unicorn's Shadow to fight the berserk Basilisk, depleting its strength…
Blood continued to gush out of the Basilisk's wounds, and after a few minutes of struggle, it finally collapsed to the ground…
