Chapter 12
Selwynn sneered and lifted his foot off his head not forgetting to wipe the dirt off on the side of his face. He didn't bother to listen to his nonsense anymore and signalled to two guards behind him.
They quickly walked up and tacitly tied Da Zhao up like a pig, stuffing cloth into his mouth so he wouldn't beg for mercy.
"Transfer him to the second warehouse, don't let Noah's group hear the news. Make sure he spits out everything he knows. "
Two guards nodded silently, lifted the heavy man whose face was filled with fear, humiliation and anger and walked out regardless of everyone else's expression.
At this moment, the private room finally returned to silence but the atmosphere was still embarrassing and no one dared to even move.
Selwynn lowered his head silently, not knowing what he was thinking and no one else dared to leave.
"Ugh, help"
The sound of a weak groan broke the stagnant silence and Selwynn finally lifted his head, casting his grey eyes onto the rest group standing in the room like quails.
He quickly recognized the leader at a glance. Not because he had any outstanding qualities but because in his last life after being disturbed by one trouble after another, he had sent someone down to investigate but before he could be released, he was killed by a crazy inmate in prison.
He didn't know if there was another hand behind his death, he just knew that his group of brothers went crazy upon learning about his death and even tried to die with Selwynn. Although they didn't succeed in the end it still left a lasting impression.
Now seeing him alive he couldn't help but scrutinize him. This was an ordinary man with a typically honest and rough face, he didn't look the type to be a gangster but from the way his brother unconsciously or consciously surrounded him, it could be seen that he was good leader in their hearts.
Mu Fang felt a little nervous being stared down but at this critical point, he could not back down and even straightened his back to try and look a little more imposing.
The Lobby manager repeatedly wiped the cold sweat off his face with trembling hands and looking at the mess in front of him, he felt like crying.
"This..."
"What to do now."
Selwynn finally lifted his gaze from Mu Fang and fell on the pitiful manager. "Let's talk about compensation." Cate immediately dragged him out of the room on the pretext of compensation and at the same time pulled the surveillance of today's event half forcing and half coercing.
When he came back in, he closed the door, he nodded to signal that everything had been taken care of. Selwynn scanned the nervous Mu Fang before asking slowly, "How much do you know about the contractor."
Mu Fang was smart and knew immediately that he was asking about the recent events and the turmoil that had been caused because of the contractors business.
At this point, even the work on the construction site that the contractor was responsible for had been suspended and many workers were beginning to be restless asking for overdue payments.
What Selwynn was asking was for him to spill the news about the contractor's whereabouts during this time, who he contacted and what plan he was making.
Without waiting for him to make a decision, one of his brothers with a bruised nose spoke up first indignantly, "Heh, aren't you in cahoots with that bastard? Pretending to be clean here, who are you fooling? He has already confessed that he was working under your orders."
"You fucking--"
Selwynn cast his gaze in his direction and the boy couldn't help but shiver under the coldness of his glare he was already angry and resentment in his heart was bursting.
The others didn't say anything but the eyes they used to look at Selwynn were unfriendly. Before he could say anything more excessive, Mu Fang lifted his hands and stopped them.
"Alright, that's enough."
The prestige of Mu Fang among their group of boys was high and despite their hatred, they didn't say anything more. Mu Fang did not apologize for the boy's words only asking, "Are you from Arlington?"
Selwynn hummed lowly,
Mu Fang was not surprised and he did not delay any more. He could see the situation clearly, among the two groups the one with the real power was the foreign man before him.
He continued to say, "For the past few months the contractor has been recruiting gangs under the name of the organization. Most of the time it was for transporting goods. We would pick up the goods from the construction site at a fixed time and transport them to the trucks and then drop them off at the containers."
"Most of the time, there was no fixed group and anybody could take the risk. The rewards themselves are very generous and my brothers and I only recently joined the team."
"No one knows what he's transporting but there had been recent rumours amongst us that he has been transporting drugs. I was a little more cautious and didn't want to get involved too deep so I forbade my brothers from taking the most recent shipment last week."
"Who knew there would be a problem this time, the trucks were intercepted and I was directly suspected by Da Zhao."
"I haven't had much contact with the contractor apart from the first meeting so I don't who he has been meeting or what other connections he had...."
He stalled at this time, but since it had already reached this point there was no use in hiding anything and he simply smashed the jar.
"This past week even the pay of the workers on the construction site has been suspended and many of the workers are on the verge of riots."
"The contractor knew about this but didn't seem to care, I heard an informer spotted his assistant at the embassy yesterday and all transports have stopped."
"The police are already on his tail and many groups have scattered however the night before my brothers were directly captured by the contractor and brought he because he wanted a scapegoat to push off the polices attention for a while"
"I reasonably suspect... he was trying to run away."
Selwynn did not interrupt the entire time but the pressure around him grew lower and lower until the moment Mu Fang said the last word, he suddenly laughed hoarsely.
Da Zhao had obviously planned to escape the country after finding a scapegoat and leaving this mess to the organization. Except unlike in his past life where he succeeded, he was cut off halfway directly by Selwynn.
Not only the contractor but he also cut off the scheming hand behind him. He didn't believe that a small contractor was responsible for such a large shipment.
He was neither decisive nor cruel enough, the only advantage he had was that he was easily manipulated.
